Agree with everyone, it's your decision, but my kids had swine flu over Xmas. DS 15 was very bad for 6 days, never had a sick day off school in 5yrs. DD 5mths got it and we spent Xmas Eve in hospital, DS 6 got it the Saturday before Xmas. We had 3 days of hallucinations where we took shifts sitting with him in the lounge day and night (he was to scared to go upstairs) and a temerature that despite any medicines we couldn't get under 100. Xmas eve he went to bed not even realising it was Xmas, he has lost loads of weight and I never, never ever want to see any of my kids like that again. And to add, our doctors hadn't got around to offering it yet as they were still dealing with the most needy!
Too many children, too little time!!!

My DD is too young to be offered it but OH and I have decided we would decline if she were, as we feel it's an untested vaccine and we don't know what the side effects might be. And there have not been that many deaths from swine flu of an otherwise healthy child.

You have to make the decision that feels right to you though.

That's my opinion of it too. :)

My 2 children are both under 5 and apparently will be offered the jab in the new year. My initial thought was that I didn't want them to have it, but my eldest who is 4 currently has swine flu, and I can honestly say that she's never been so ill and I wish she had had the jab. She started on Christmas Day, and still isn't right. She's finished the tamiflu but has been so very poorly, its been horrible.

DH and I have both had the jab as we're both asthmatic, so far my son hasn't got it and I'm really hoping that he doesn't get it as he's still a baby and so I can't even explain it to him.

I agree that its a personal choice, but I so wish my kids had had the jab before DD got it :(

I wont be having it and was offered it by my gp, and epu nurse as am now 17 weeks pregnant, baby wont be having it whe born either.

When I saw my gp (new gp, just moved) and was asked, I simply said I'm going to politely say no thankyou, as I dont believe in vaccinations, and have had a great opportunity to learn a lot about them owing to my job working with a team of wellness practioners and world renowned chiropractor......

My GP asked me if I had any information on vaccinations in general, and even took down the name of a book I recommended, and AGREED with me regarding the swine flu vaccine and said she "has to ask"....

If you feel its right for you then by all means, im not going to preach my beliefs to anyone, but I do think there should be more information widely available.

A colleague when she took her new born son to see the nurse, and was told he would be having his first set of vaccinations, asked the nurse if they had any information on them, such as ingredients before she agreed to it, and the nurse told her "Not to waste time" and if she was "that concerned, she should have researched it herself, on GOOGLE!"

Now I know people have limited time to see people, but I think people administering vaccines, and all drugs have a moral and ethical duty to understand what they are giving to people.....

    Just my tuppence worth.....

P.S If anyone would like the name of the book, just PM me

This is something I have pondered over, my youngest children are 2 and 4.

Not that they have been offered it as yet, but since I heard under-5's would be getting vaccinated it has been on my mind.

I am of the opinion that I don't think they need it. My mum and brother had swine flu in the autumn and it was bad, but nowhere near as bad as it has been portrayed. and I don't like the thought of my children being injected with something that hasn't been researched and tested for a long period of time.

Mind you, none of us have ever had the flu, I might be singing a different tune if I experience it, who knows.

A friend of mine had the flu a month or so after it broke out. SHe was given tami flu etc and recovered fine in the end. Then she got called in for vaccination 2 months ago. They said as she hadn't had swabs done when she got ill, they couldn't say for sure it was definitely swine flu. She decided to have the vaccination done because she told me she honestly felt like she was going to die when she had the swine flu, in all her life she had never felt so unwell. My uncle has also had it and though he recovered as well, he says exactly the same. Thats enough for me personally, to ensure my kids dont get it if they dont have to. :)

  • Again another vote that you've got to make your own mind up.

On a personal note I work in the NHS in Public Health and I was first in the queue to ensure my DS got the jab.

swine flu is a swindle.. a hoax.. perpetrated to sell vaccines and other pharmaceutical products.

those who push the scare had doubtlessly positioned themselves beforehand to benefit financially from the fear.

a huge amount of healthcare funding has been pumped into the pharmaceutical sector, as vaccine doses (with a finite life) are stockpiled.

it's one giant swindle. a modern day tulip mania.

imvho, there is no great risk from "swine flu". there are no mountains of corpses. and just maybe the virus doesn't even exist. panic over!

My youngest daughter is 7 months old and currently has a bit of a cough and cold with a low lying temperature that has had me worried... As soon as she is offered, she will be having her jab... I couldn't bear the thought of her ending up ill if there was something I could do to prevent it... She's had all her other jabs, she'll have the MMR when it is offered, why would I not let her have this one?

Hubby had a pluerectomy 5 years ago and he had his flu jab in November.... DD1 is already 5 and I have no underlying health issues so we aren't eligible... But I would get all of us done if it was available to us...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
