The Navy found they had too many officers and decided to offer an early retirement bonus. They promised any officer who volunteered for retirement a bonus of $1,000 for every inch measured in a straight line between any two points in his body.. The officer got to choose what those two points would be.
The first officer who accepted asked that he be measured from the top of his head to the tip of his toes. He was measured at six feet and walked out with a bonus of $72,000.
The second officer who accepted was a little smarter and asked to be measured from the tip of his outstretched hands to his toes. He walked out with $96,000.
The third one was a non-commissioned officer, a grizzly old Chief who, when asked where he would like to be measured replied, 'From the tip of my weenie to my testicles.'
It was suggested by the pension man that he might want to reconsider, explaining about the nice big checks the previous two Officers had received.
But the old Chief insisted and they decided to go along with him providing the measurement was taken by a Medical Officer.
The Medical Officer arrived and instructed the Chief to 'drop 'em,' which he did. The medical officer placed the tape measure on the tip of the Chief's weenie and began to work back.
'Dear Lord!' he suddenly exclaimed, 'Where are your testicles?'
The old Chief calmly replied, ' Vietnam'.Debt @ LBM - £25,722 Debt now - £11,811 DFD - April 2012

It wasnt so bad for us because we had the delivery due last Tuesday (ordered Sunday) before the bad snow hit. They did offer to try to rearrange delivery but of course even if id have tried again for the Thurs/Fr/Sat they still wouldnt have made it
I do feel for everyone who were relying on them though, they knew how the weather was from Tues onwards (in Manchester anyway) so could have called people then to let them know rather than leave them stranded waiting on deliveries
Hope youre sorted now hun?
Mumof4 xx
I understand that there was people all over waiting for deliveries but we've had the snow since the 3rd week in December so they should've known that they wouldn't make it through but instead they decided to give me less than 24hrs notice.
Went to the local Tesco to get bread, milk and something for tea tonight and ended up spending just shy of £20 on ONE meal!
We're going to go to the big Tesco tomorrow as Adam had physio today, it was right in the middle of the day and with feeding times we couldn't go so we'll go on the 60mile round trip after the kids get up. I'm really dreading the cost, even with OH's discount ASDA still works out loads cheaper.
I suppose it would be alot harder for you to get to a supermarket with 4 kids though so I guess it must have made you mad when yours didn't get delivered! I hope you had plenty of wipes though, I'm down to my last packetStarted PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10
