We want to get married but i hate my problem skin

i have terrible skin too, not just on my face but my chest and back too, since becoming pregnant i even have them on my bum and legs. Its horrible can't imagine what kind of wedding dress i would wear if i had the confidence to get married and be the center of attention. Some of the spots scar or leave a dark mark that takes ages to fade, have to avoid the sun or they darken. Have found estee lauder double wear provides good coverage, try not to use it every day because its so heavy. On the other days i use bare minerals but the coverage isn't great but i like to think its not making the spots worse. Hoping my skin will settle down once the baby is here, 30 really is too old to be so spotty.
Did use diannette before i had my first child and it did clear my skin but gave me headaches. Didn't know the doctors don't like prescribing it now.0 -
I completely sympathise with you. I had dreadful acne in my teens, which was eventually 'cured' by Roaccutane.
About three weeks ago my skin flared up again and I went into panic mode. The doctor has prescribed antibiotics and it is calming down already.
I know that Roaccutane has some unpleasant side effects for some, but if your doctor will prescribe it I would definitely give it a go.
Good luck!0 -
Hi
Have you tried the oil cleansing method?
http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/
Initially do it every two days, then as required.
I've been using this about twice a week (for a long time now) and have stopped getting spots, seen pores reduce and generally enjoyed the benefits. I use 1/4 castor oil and 3/4 olive oil. It works well for me. Don't spend a lot on special cloths, I just use normal facecloths. I have about 4 of them. Just use then dry and throw in wash basket.
The results were obvious from first go, have a gentle squeeze after using this and pores give up loads. I then rinse again with cool water and moisturise.
I get some hot lumps sometimes on cheeks if I haven't done this for a while but one go usually reduces them overnight and if not gone totally I do it again.
Try it whilst you persue other avenues, you never know. Castor oil is v cheap from Chemists.
Best of luck, hope the wedding goes well!

Hi,
Does anyone know of anything that really helps spots/acne?
Thank you
panoxyl gel is good, it comes in different strengths (so best to start with the lowest), you can buy it from the chemist or see if your doctor will prescribe you some? How long have you got before your wedding to get it under control?? What about antibiotics? Has your doctor prescribed you any?[STRIKE]SHOPtillYOUdrop[/STRIKE]

My sons were prescribed Roaccutane and had amazing results with it. It has to be prescribed by a consultant and they were closely monitored by him during the course.
Ask your GP to refer you to a dermatologist at the hospital.
Good luck and hope to see you back on here with your wedding plans soon0 -
What side effects does Roccutune cause? Sounds a bit scarey to use!
See the thing is ive just recently had a miscarriage, and plan to start trying again soon depending on when we set the date. I dont want to take anything too harmful.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -

maiagti - Roaccutane is a very definite no-no if you're planning to get pregnant. Quite a high risk of birth defects I think? A friend of mine was prescribed it and had to sign something first about not getting pregnant within a certain time after completing the treatment.0

Hi
I had problem skin for years. Tried all the spot creams under the sun, and various pill options including dianette. The only thing which worked was antibiotics, but it's bad for you to be on there for a long time and as soon as I stopped taking them hey presto they came back. It severely affected my confidence.
I was referred to a dermatologist by my GP. I then asked to be put on roaccutane. I was on it for 5 months in 2008. Yes you do have to do frequent blood tests and pregnancy tests. Your skin goes very dry, and most people suffer from chapped lips. Just use lots of lip salve and body lotion. You are advised to keep out of the sun whilst on it. I would get down to your GP and ask to be referred to dermatologist asap (there could well be a waiting list). Check with the doctor how long you can start trying for a baby after being on this medication. I think it is 6 months.
No pain no gain. It is the best thing I ever did, and wish I'd done it earlier. 18 months later I've not had one single spot touch wood. Happy to answer any questions abour roaccutane if you have any. Good luck0
