Giving wormers to cats

I vote for the spot on...but if by any chance you do ever manage to 'dry pill' a cat, be kind and give it a treat or snack straight after.
Just imagine if you tried to swallow a large pill dry and it kind of got stuck half way down...it would be really uncomfortable!
Incidentally, my Paddy has always fallen for the 'cat canape' trick....his favourite Thomas biscuit smeared with dairylea and topped with the offending tablet. Yumm0 -
I got palateable tablets from the vet last time, the cats loved them, ate them with gusto and came looking for more!! I think it was panacur favourites but not 100% sure.0

My cats go mad for ham! They just have to hear the packet opening and they are by my side! I use the spot on wormers but a little while back, one of my cats was attacked and I had 2 lots of tablets to give her. The ham worked for about 2 days then she got wise to it. I feed mine meat and they love fish so i used to mix it in with the meat and stand over her to make sure she ate it.
A couple of times she didn't eat the tablet so then the ham would come out and as she sat begging for ham, I used to just throw it in her mouth- both ham and tablet disappeared:D

Hi I find that a piece of turkey meat with the tablet stuck inside does the trick. Another option is to not give the cat anything to eat until the evening. They are usually that hungry they dont notice the tablet.0

Og I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky with my cat - he loves tablets.
Makes no fuss whatsoever.
He needs to take one every day for him kidneys and walks around the kicthen making a lot of noise to remind me, won't shut up till he gets one.
The other medication is a powder which I mix with water in a syringe and in it goes directly to his throat and he just gupls it then goes off to sleep, quite happy

Pet drugs online sellPanacur granules. You mix into their wet food, leave for a few minutes for the granules to absorb the foods flavour and cats/dogs etc eat it with no problem. My vet recommended it, I originally got mine from the vet until I found I could buy on line.
Generally you need a specific treatment for different worms ie tape worms or roundworms, some do both.

Its not just cats than can be difficult to worm. My dog HATES it! He can smell the tablet a mile off, and when I am busy covering it with honey (he has a sweet tooth, but this is the only time I give him it) he will run under the table out of reach. . .
He wont even try to lick the tablet. Whatever I cover it with. His is a fussy eater anyway. Some wormin tablets come in the chewy liver flavoured form which I feed him as a treat when training him to avoid him getting 'suspicious'. Other than that I hold his mouth open an place it in the back of his mouth. then hold his mouth shut, rub is throat so he is forced to swallow it. I feel trerrible doing this. But doing this once sucessfully is much less stressful for him than lots of bad atempts of me trying to be kind (afried f chocking him) and not putting the tablet all the way back.
After I have done this I always feed him something nice to take away the taste.0 -

I would always wrap my cat tightly in a towel or blanket to stop them scratching you. I had to be careful to make sure the tablet has gone down the back of the throat, as my cat always used to hide it in the side of her mouth and then spit it out when you weren't looking.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £9,441.52 Nearly there!0

We use a three-pronged attack
Grab cat in a towel - one person holds the towel, next person holds it closed at the top so she can't get the claws out (learnt that one the hard way), third person opens the cats mouth and pops the tablet in... then on the count of three, all let go and take a big step back.
Dog just eats hers willingly!0
