    Good morning guys,

Happy new year to you all. xxx

I cleaned the house and took down the deccies on new year's eve so nice and clean for yesterday. We had a nice bit of pork for lunch with all the trimmings which was delish.

Today I have the first of 2 washes on and plan on the usual clean and a potter about. The pan cupboard needs a good clean out and I will clean the crystals today. I also have to pull out the tv stand and sort out the wiring for the new ps. Lunch will be hot pork and stuffing sandwiches and tea is corned beef hash with the left over veggies from yesterday.

Wasn't Dr who sad but brill. last night? Don't know about Matt as the new Dr but time will tell.

I've got the fire on in the lounge as it's freezing today, beautiful blue skies out there though.

Hugs to anyone in need today and welcome new posters. xxx

Best get on and actually do something, :D

    Morning folks:hello:
Remmie and Lillibet - another doggie person here We have 2 Golden Retrievers. They've been walked and are now sleeping - well, one is and the other one is pretending but is peering up in case some crumbs fall from the table. She is always on the hunt for food:drool:.
Sorry that your mum isn't able to come today SunnyGirl. It would have been really nice for you. Thinking of you all.
Hester - ignore any thoughts of w*rk that may try to creep up on you!!
Snow and ice beginning to melt here I think. Don't know what the weather is for today but we plan having a trip out in the car with the dogs and maybe a bit of a (slight) hill walk.
Other plans include taking down the decs, hoovering and dusting - a general clean up. DD has a good stock of traditional cleaning products here (bicarb etc) and also has more 'green' products than I would have. Think I will sprinkle the livingroom with bicarb just now and let it sink in for a while before hoovering. It's great for getting rid of smells (eg dogginess!).
2 Scotch pies in the fridge for today and then we are cracking on with healthier eating from tomorrow :p . Have joined the new recipe thread/ challenge.
Ok, have a good day peeps and (((hugs))) to those feeling unwell, sad or anxious.

    Morning all:wave:

It's very cold here this morning. I've already made some bread and it is rising now- I might give it a bit more time today as it is so cold.

I need to do some sort of snack baking too, something quite plain I think like scones or maybe soda bread. We've eaten far too much sugar in the past two weeks.

I haven't any idea what's for lunch, maybe baked potatoes with cheese, then I can use up the last crumbs of the Stilton.

Supper will be minced pork -probably in the form of gingered pork balls with peas and rice but I may decide on something else.

As it is Saturday I'll make a pud- mincemeat pancakes I think.

    Morning everyone.

Shhhh don't terll anyone but DS slept through last night :D As soon as he woke he asked for a sticker for his reward chart :T Perhaps that message has finally sunk into him? Anyway I am well aware that one swallow does not make a summer so we shall see. Unfortunately DD decided to wake at 5am instead but H got up and dealt with her and I've had a lie in today :T

Anyway H has gone off to do the shopping, only need a few bits so I am hoping and praying he sticks to the list  otherwise he'll blow my GC budget for the week.
Did an inventory of what food I have in my freezer:

10 small salmon fillets (cut small as these are for the kids - I don't like it)
    1/2 bag of sausages
    1/3 box of fish fingers
6 200g portions of diced turkey (for H's lunches)
2 whole medium chickens (at my mums house)
    3 chicken breasts
2 chicken breasts cooked (from rubber chicken)
    1 v. large gammon joint
4 veggie burgers (H likes there, god knows why they are tasteless)
    5 x 400g bags of minced steak
    2 Cod Cakes
    5 packs of bacon
    2/3 bag of white fish
4 small punnets of blueberries (H likes these)
6 bags of cut up peppers
    1 bag of peas
    1 bag of cauliflower
    1 bag of broccoli
    I garlic baguette
    1/2 bag of chips
1 large portion of cottage pie
    1 large portion of chilli
I think I have a joint of beef round at my mums house too :o

I am so shocked at how much food is actually there. I really need to start getting through some of this. Only small problem is H doesn't really like minced steak  which means it's going to be the kids and me eating it all :rotfl:
In "theory" there should be no reason for me to need to buy anything other than milk and fruit (and perhaps some more veg) for the next month. I think I will abandon my normal meal planning (which runs on a 7 week rota) and schedule some more meals using up some of the mince etc from the freezer.
Tea tonight is going to be HM burgers (using bag number 6 of minced steak LOL!) with some wedges.

Made some cheese muffins yesterday - good lord half of the muffin sticks to the paper case and they are mostly air under the rather tasty outer crust. Think I will stick to cheese scones, the muffin receipe didn't seem to have much flour in it, hence all the air bubbles. What bit you can prise off tastes very nice though.

Sun is out here and is showing all the dust and crumbs on my laminate flooring in the lounge so need to get the vac out quick! Need to make more of an effort with the housework, been a bit lazy lately just doing the bare minimum :o

Watched the end of Dr Who last night - never watched it before and couldn't understand half of it :rotfl: I must admit I am not quite sure what people see in David Tennant :o He's a bit too bony like Jarvis Cocker for my taste :rotfl: Still can't say the new bloke is any more fanciable either so I guess I shan't bother to watch again.

Jackie - your start to the Daily was fine

jc - carbonara - my fave :D Can I eat at your house?!!!

Hester - stick your fingers in your ears and go "lalalalalalalalala" about work ;)

Sunnygirl - hugs to you and the family xx

Curly - that diet thread is on the Health, Fashion and Beauty board.

right this was a bit of a marathon post :o Hugs to those that need them, have a good day OS or not.

Morning folks, been having heavy snowfalls here today, but the wind is picking up so decided to hang some washing out. Have got a breadmaker, but fancy trying handmade bread so will have a go at that just shortly. Looking after DGS as his mummy is a nurse and she is working today, thankfully he is having a wee snooze just now - hence me putting my feet up for ten mins - must be getting old. Lunch will be soup out of the freezer., and tea will be steak pie, tatties and cabbage with HM trifle to follow. really should do some plain baking as everyone is fed up of fancy sweet stuff!!! Will also look at meal planning for the rest of the week,
    have a good day folks,

Still bothhead%20cold.gif at our house,so another quiet day for us.We were meant to have steak as a special tea yesterday for New Year.DS2 got it out of the fridge as he'd said he'd cook and even though I'd got it out the day before-it was still frozen  I don't like microwave thawed meat-so it was take away for us.Will try again with the steak tonight.I may make some soup later as we seem to have a fair bit of veg left.

DH went for the papers ths morning and DS1 has had a photo printed in the local paper.smile.gif He took it when we had the thick snow and he and his brother took the snowboard out.The sun is setting and DS2 is silhouetted, trudging up the hill with the board, looks good.

Enjoying 2 of the books I got from the library-'Fabricate' by Susan Wasinger, and 'Quick & Clever Felting 'by Ellen Kharade, for crafty things.Think I should get some inspiration out of them-need to dig out some old woolly jumpers first though to make the felt. You can buy carded wool to felt as well, and looks like you can get lovely colours, but that would mean more spending,so I'll try old jumpers first.:rotfl:

    Hope everyone is OK.rose.gifx

    Back again

Well all decs are now down and house is lovely and clean again - if a little bare looking. I wonder how many million households are taking their decorations down this weekend???

Just waiting for Hubbie to get out of the shower then we are nipping out, had a new battery put in my watch on Christmas eve and it has stopped again so going back to shop with it as battery has a 2 year guarantee. Then calling at wool shop to pay for my knitting lessons which start on 12th January - can't wait, I know the basics but that is it and really want to improve on that this year.

I can't remember who has mentioned soda bread now but think I am going to have to make some today now as I have some smoked salmon and cream cheese just crying out to be used on some, hmmmmm.

    Enjoy your day
