I love Mottrams too! we bought a coffee machine from there once and the owner was very helpful when it went wrong. I do end up spending money when I go there - so I don't go very often, but at least I'm supporting a local business.

Thanks Lesley for telling us about the Indian shop - I've prob driven past it many times without noticing it. I'm due an expedition to T Wells (DD's jeans are more holes than denim at the moment - so I can't put it off any longer) so I will check the shop out.

Did some shopping at the CoOp as I have 2 orders for food (I cook for other people occasionally) and picked up 3 Wholemeal loaves at 30p each and 1 Kg 4 bags of small potatoes at 25p each

would have got more bread - there was LOADS more, although mainly white which I don't like - but there is only so much bread one house can store!

Still - bargain. I am going to play with some Indian spices and see if I can make something delicious with some of the spuds

Reporting back for Friday 22nd January

All the poor little sicknotes are getting themselves together now - cheerfulness quotient aided enormously by the weekend.

More cheese today for DS1 - funny had thought it was DD1 who ate the most - well will be working on that next week. Liver and Bacon and onions for our supper was gorgeous but just a tad over budget - could have been under 50p with better portion control, but like I said it was gorgeous

    Today's Summary - 16/18 meals 50p or under
    Summary Total - 361/398 = 90.7% = Target 91.3%

    Breakfast: 50p or under (6/6)
OP - ASDA SP Fruit & Fibre
    OH - Lidl Crunchie Oats
    DD1, DD2, DS1: Cereal or nothing
    DS2 : 50p breakfast club

    Lunch: 50p or under (6/6)
OP, DS2: Chunk HM Bread, Piece Chicken 33p, Apple
OH, DD2 : Egg Mayo & HM Bread
    DS1 : Slice Gouda (10 slices Lidl 400g = 1.89) = 19p HM Bread + apple = 39p
    DD1: 3 Quorn chicken slices 35p, Chunk HM Bread 5p, 4 Lidl Cherry Tomatoes (20 for 39p) = 48p
    DS2: Ham + Chunk HM Bread + Carrot & Apple = 43p

    Supper: 50p or under (5/6)

OP, OH: Recipe of the week - Liver and Bacon with Onion & Mash
    Tesco 430g Lamb Liver £1, 2 Lidl Red Onions 10p, 2 Lidl Bacon = 28p = £1.38
    about 1/3 left over = 46p portion + Oak Lane instant mash = 22p = 57p each
    DS2: Sweetcorn Ham and Noodles
    DD1, DD2, DS1 : = Single Quick Single (Like double quick double but with one toast (5p) and one egg (10p) + 1/3 tin lidl beans.29p = 10p = 25p (DS1 extra slice toast)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

My OH did put stock in (veggie stock/court bouillon) prob added 1p each to recipe - so still got away with it

Thanks Lesley - great shopping - I will get round to doing some of your recipes but for kids who are vegetarians they don't like a lot of vegetables, so slow but sure
