I dont think its the games so muc as the people that are on xbox live. Do you really want your son to have unlimited access to the appalling language and adult discussions? Just make sure you know what he is getting into. Just cause everyone else does it is not an excuse0

I beg to differ. This and thisShe's not missing out on a single thing. She wants it for just for playing games on, and that's exactly what she does with it.
That's one of my points though, there are some excellent xbox live arcade games available that she won't be able to play.I dont think its the games so muc as the people that are on xbox live. I agree there, I would advise the OP to use the family settings on the xbox and disable voice comms for anybody other than friends.0 -
My son went into a local Asda to buy an 18 rated game,he was refused because he did not look eighteen.
He went back after getting some ID from home and was given the game.
As for the Xbox question from the OP,im sorry i acnt answer your question as i am a PS3 fan, good luck by the way.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -
I also second setting the family options and disabling voice coms as well. You can save with a memory unit but ive noticed some games require more than 256mb to create a save. Id recommend getting the plug and play kit which enables the controllers battery pack(included) to be charged up whilst playing the game or you can set it up to charge when the console is off(doing this would save alot on batteries).0

that is pretty much standard, althoug i think if you look under 25 when trying buy a game tehn you will get asked for ID0 -
b33r your first link is no different to shops selling fags or alochol to youngsters, we know it happens and it should't, your 2nd link is to buying games online, which thanks to these clever little prepaid cards that require no id, no security or a credit check anyone can get one, load it up and buy online, again the retailers wouldnt know if that person was 18 or not as they have used the credit card status as an age verification.
What i am saying is most retailers still wouldnt sell and 18 yr old game to a 12 year because its not accepted in law!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

your right in that game saves do take a lot of space the standard 256mb is only good for a few game saves, perfect if they only intend to play one game.
Personnaly i dont recommend the plug and play kit, its far more econimical to buy some decent rechargeable AA batteries, the plug and play kit has not got a great life compared with the batteries, which im still using batteries from 5 years ago, my plug and play would only hold a 30 min charge after 1 year, 2 plug and play kits!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

id thought about rechargeable batteries and yes your right they can be better, it would just be something else that needs to be plugged into the mains but its soemthing i need to think about, i find i get more play out of my play and charge kit, do you use a particular make of rechargeables, ive been thinking about then USB cell batteries but not sure how long they would last0 -

I agree most wouldn't but the point I am making is that more do than people realise. All you need to do is step away from the supermarkets, game and hmv etc. And the retailers that choose not to sell to people under 18 are following a law which, as I pointed out earlier, is flawed. And as far as I know still hasn't been fixed.
Mine and other people's opinions of whether people under 18 should play those games is irrelevant in the context of this thread. I am just stating facts.0 -

with regards to the rechargable batteries i always bought the best as my digital SLR would eat batteries like anything, if i put normal AA in it i would get to take about 3 pics, but for my xbox controller it really doesnt matter, i currently use some i got from lidl 2100mah take about 30 mins to charge 4 and last for days, and i play a lot........Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
