To Windows 7 or not to Windows 7

It is more appealing visually and the libraries structure is very clever and saves time. The rest of it is much the same really.
Except for the vastly superior security that's built in, the parental controls that are easy to use and acually work and in my experience it's more stable. I haven't had a single crash with Windows 7 (or Vista for that matter). It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

But I have my XP secure and it has never crashed in over 3 years.
I don't have any kids messing with my computer, so what's in it for me?0 -
Which says more about your knowledge than the OS
I had a similar experience and I've got to speak up to defend the person you replied to here. I used to do consultancy work for Microsoft on several aspects of operating system design and was involved in the design of Vista (and fired for my opinion of it, incidentally). Now tell me my problems with the operating system I helped design and test are because I lack knowledge of it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I upgraded (not clean install) to W7 home (via HP offer) at christmas on a Compaq pressario machine from Vista home.
Cant really say if its faster but it looks nicer and has a few new features that I like.
Unfortunatley the screen colour has gone a bit strange in the red colours that I have yet to find a reason for even though it recognised the correct display model.
I am glad it was only a small financial outlay as for me Vista was working fine, as has W7 so far, if I had paid full price I would be a different matter.
If you are happy with Vista then stick to that until you buy a new laptop.0 -

What is so much better about XP than 7? I'm struggling to think of anything factual.0
