TPA it sounds like the decision has been made for you in the fact that the outside work is more urgent, I'm sure with your hard work you'll be able to get the windows done soon anyway.
I'm a pain I want everything done now and still struggle to keep myself from spending at times! Ev x
Well done on the no alcohol, it does indeed contain a lot of calories so you'll find it definitely helps with the weight loss.0 -
Afternoon all.
Sad news from Stuart today:(.
Well I have not attempted to clear/clean the spare room as I got up VERY late (I am too embaressed to say quite how late;).
I have however been 'mucking out' the living room! This should be by far the easiest to do, I have already recylcled a big bag of magazines, paper, catalogues etc. I am amazed that our pets have any fur left, as the amount I have retreaved from under the TV unit, sofas etc. would be enough to cover a large lion pride!
I am moving on into the 'dining room' next. The dining table is currently doubling up as a dumping ground for all sorts of paperwork, ironing etc:eek:.
We have got someone else coming over tonight to quote for doing the kitchen works, i'm not sure our first workman is on the same lines as we are. We had a very strange reaction from him when we said the quote he had got for purchasing kitchen units was way more than we could purchase them for ourselves. Anyway its a long story and one I shall leave until the dust settles! Very odd indeed.:o
I have picked up some MShops for this week, I am hoping to complete 5 of them tomorrow as well as doing my regular 'extra shift'.
The dining area is calling I must leave MSE now!!

Not really - I've never drunk that much tbh. I put on tons of weight at the end of last year. Too many mince pies, chocolate, carbs, etc. I don't know what gets in to me at christmas - I just seem to go mad :EasterBun:eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -

We have put in 2 kitchens and I seem to remember that a lot of the cost is in the labour to fit the kitchen. It takes a lot longer to to fit than you might imagine.
Hope you and OH have made upand you're are not still

Yes thank you we have made up, I think part of it was the stress of trying to organise the kitchen and windows and trying to work through the reaction of our workman (It was not a reaction to the cost of fitting by the way, we are still trying to gain that information!!) I think hubby has scared of the window man as I must admit he (hubby) came across as a complete odd ball when he was here!:rotfl:In his defence he was very tired, but even so, I'm not sure I would come back after that!!
I am going to wash my hair and print out a load of Mshop info, get into my steady steed and get a move on!

Even though we had lovely, modern oak cabinets/handles, the look was finished off with this awful, cheap-looking laminate worktop (limited choice at the time).
That's exactly the problem I have - my cabinets are fine, but I would like to change the worktop and the sink and cooker.
How long did the job take and did you change your sink as well? Did you go to a normal kitchen supplier or did you go to a company that specialises in just replacing parts of the kitchen?0 -
It took the firm one day (1000-1630) and 45 minutes the next morning (to finish off the sink).
In that time they removed the old worktops and put in the new ones.
They had to make a minor adjustment on site, but they did a great job all round.
Changed the sink to a flush undermounted design, and had drainer grooves put into the worktop, which looks very smart.
We went to a granite worktop specialist local to us.

We had tried normal kitchen suppliers initially, but the prices were a lot higher and the range was limited.0 -
Thanks a lot for your reply. Is there a reason why you didn't go for quartz rather than granite - does granite look much better?0

What are upstands?

and more explanations and examples here:-

We chose granite over quartz because we felt (OH more so) that the quartz was a little too uniform in design/colour (which is one of it benefits for some).
We like the unique, random nature of the Venetian Gold design and we were give a choice of 4 slabs to choose from.
We painted down to the upstands and around the splashback..0
