For some reason Scottish Power think our meter is about 700 units higher than what it is - so when we log on to update the reading every month we only put it up by 1 unit a month until we catch up - so for the moment its really cheap but I wish I understood how they got this high reading for us!

  • Yep, I've def. got a touch of man flu, must have sneezed at least 4 times today:rotfl:

Still no alcohol:eek: The thought of it is still making me feel a little 'green':o

No money making news today:( I did treat myself to a bottle of night nurse today though:rotfl:

I have persuaded my Dad to take me to Costco on Monday as he has a card - hopefully will stock up on diet coke, meat and washing liquid - oh the exciting life I lead:rotfl:IF anyone that goes to Costco regularly has any ideas what I should be looking out for.........spill the beans NOW!!!!

Right I know its early, but if I can drag myself away from the computer I might just have an early night.

  • well done on the walk TPA!! hope the early night sorts the man flu out- lots of horrible lingering cols going round at the moment it seems!
oh ...the curse of the 2 day hangovers, I very rarely drink anymore as even a couple of glasses of wine seem to make me feel awful...boo! what happened to the fun times of drinking several more glasses before any ill effects....hmmm...getting old methinks :rotfl:
sounds like a plan to be more healthy generally (and a post to remind you how awful hangovers are) may be a good idea- I know Im quite all or nothing though so remember to give yourself some treats!;)
hope MrTPA is tending to your needs and making lots of cups of tea while you are down with man flu

I must need new specs as i could barely see that photo. :rotfl:

    Pants to feeling ill.

Costco - i tend to stock up on tinned goods like tomatoes, branston baked beans, kindney beans. Herbs and spices can be quite cheap - i got a huge several hundred gram tub of mixed spice for only 47p. The rest seem to be £3-4. Meat is lovely. Not always really cheap but very tasty. We just got a lovely gammon joint there, and i can also recommend the mince and the boneless chicken thighs and large half salmons. We then portion up and stick it all in the freezer.

Boxes of wine are cheap. Christmas gifts might be a thought. They do something called a tower of treats which is a tower of boxes with different things in and is about £10. Look rather more pricey than it is.

Books are fairly cheap, clothes - DH got a new waterproof coat for about £30.

Bread products - we like their wraps and naan breads. We also like their cakes but it does not fit in well with our diet ethos.

Bags of dried fruit are not necessarily cheap but are so succulent and tasty compared to stuff you get in the supermarket.

Dairy - make sure you stock up on milk, butter and cheese which are all cheap. The yoghurts are also a bit cheaper but not enough to make me buy. Trays of eggs are nice and reasonable.

tea bags can be cheap. I got 11,000 typhoo bags for about £10.

fruit and veg is not that cheap to be honest and we find the portions are so big they go off before we can eat it.

toilet rolls - about 30p a roll for really nice ones. Mouthwash. Moisturisers.

Hope that is some use. Just look around but beware not everything is a bargain that it first seems.
