Morning, I've been so busy with work I've barely had time to keep up!

So sorry to hear about your cat Dippy, I know how you're feeling, it's like losing one of the family. Hope you feel a bit better this week.

Lara, I concur with the 'Malta is lovely' comments, although I was thoroughly miserable when I went, that was because I was 15 and stuck alone with my parents for a week! When I look back it was fab and I want to go again and appreciate it this time. We were looking into it but you can't seem to go anywhere but the Balearics and Turkey from the NE at the moment. Your little chairs look lovely too, like a little haven! (Loved the gorilla/tweezer analogy!!)

Dinah is it Thursday your op? Been a long time coming, hopefully you'll be up and about in no time! Lucky you with the premium bond mney - things like that never happen to me! As for your wedding make up ... don't they say you should try and look as much like your normal self as possible? Can you not invest in some good foundation and practise practise practise? Make time for a couple of touch ups on the day? I don't think I'd be comfortable with having my make up 'done', I'd feel like a painted doll.

Right off to look at my money situation

    Thanks, yeah that's exactly it.

I've put a couple of photos of her on my computer and uploaded them to Facebook so I can see them regularly. I think it's helping a bit!

Urgh, that's a total bummer! Longer lasting makeup is just in the application more than anything. Make sure your skin is really moisturized and nice and smooth! (Use a face mask the night before - the ones you can get for 99p from Boots are pretty fab!) Remember to use a primer (I've heard great things about E.L.Fs Mineral Primer and it's only £6) for a good base. Then apply your foundation with a foundation blush, blend in with your fingers, then 'blot' all over your face with a blending wedge. For all day I'd set it with a light weight powder (Once again, heard good things about E.L.Fs HD powder - it's been compaired to MAC so must be good!) and that should do you all day! Also I'd get a pen like YSLs Touch Eclat and keep it in your bag/clutch. It's amazing for under eye touch ups during the day, makes you look all nice an awake again! Obviously if you don't fancy spending £24 on it, Aldi do a dupe for about £3.49?? But personally, if you can afford to spend the extra £20 I would - it's worth it!

For good YT videos I'd suggest MichellePhan, Swalkermakeup and Panacea81. If you let me know what look you're after, I can have a little think and give you a couple cheaper makeup suggestions.

I love Makeupgeek on YT! She's done loads of tutorials you could spend hours watching! Here's a vintage glam look if that's what you're after?

Be verrrrrry careful with Touche Eclat, it looks great IRL and works a treat but because of the light reflecting magic in it it can give you panda eyes in photographs because of the refelction from the flash! I had a make up lesson at The Therapist at Toni and Guy in Northallerton a few years ago and it really helped me. I think she does it for free if you buy some products off her, which you'll want to do because she uses Daniel Sandler make up which is great stuff! Otherwise can you organise a Vie at Home party and get your make up done as the demonstration? Free make up lesson and you'll get free money to spend on the products if you get enough people round buying! The Vie primer is really good for making your face stay on all day and the concealer palette is good as you can blend it to match your skin perfectly. Practice a lot and take lots of pictures to make sure that it'll photograph well!

Sounds like a good sensible plan to sell NIMs car, you can feel very happy that you're doing your bit to save the planet too! The savings/investments plans sound good too, it's so odd to be planning on paying for private school for your kids now, argh we're too young for that kind of talk!

Dinah - best of luck on Thursday. Am hoping you make a speedy recovery and are up on your feet in no time :)

Re: wedding make up. I would just pay for someone to do it. You are spending a lot of money on the day and all eyes will be on your dress and face. It doesn't cost that much and you would probably spend the same amount buying new make up anyway. It might also be quite stressful to do on the day. You want to be pampered from start to finish. This is just my opinion though, but I enjoyed the manicure, pedicure, make up and hair on the day of mine. Everyone came to me so less stress!

Blimey, it's incredibly quiet over here! Hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine :D

I think I'd definitely get my make up done professionally for my wedding - I might even go for false eyelashes as they look so great in photos, even though I don't wear them in 'real life'.

It's just a matter of what you feel comfortable with - as long as you have a trial run before the big day, you won't be orange! And get one of your BMs to be on make up duty!

Hope it all goes well on Thursday Dinah - phew it's been such a long time coming!

I wish! Chained to my desk until 4:30 :(

Birdie - I didn't even think of that *is useless* Scrap the TouchElcat pen idea! I'm starting to agree with CMD and Poddle though, for what it's worth you mareswell pull the money from somewhere and have a pro do it.

And seeing how it's all over, what do you all think to the budget?

Oooh yeah, I'm getting those semi permanent falsies putting on before I go away, a lady at work had them done before going on holiday last year and they looked really good! It's good that we're getting married earlier than planned so hopefully not too many will have fallen out by the wedding day!

ETA: Not really looked at the budget yet, been quite busy at work! All I saw was the public sector pay freeze which doesn't affect me but sucks for Tete and Dinah and the VAT rise which sucks for everyone! If I don't get a pay rise this year I'll go on a go slow(er than usual)!

Me too! (Until 6.00!) Wishful thinking, I guess

Any ideas how much it costs? I could *easily* spend £50 on some decent foundation, primer and mascara. In fact ... :o ... just the other day I bought some Benefit Stay Don't Stray - and it's amazing! You almost don't need concealer as well and it's great for evening out skin tone and no more creased eye shadow. Hurrah.

And seeing how it's all over, what do you all think to the budget?

Hm, I haven't really had chance to look at it properly. On the face of it, I won't be affected personally (except the VAT) at this stage, but I'm concerned about the spending cuts and it puts some people in an awful position.

I didnt even know you could get those! But I'm in favour of splashing out - it's not every day you get married :D

To get the makeup done professionally is £180-£200, which I'm sorry I think is mental money. And I like Tetes sentiment about wanting to look like herself - which is true. So I think I'm just going to practice practice practice.

Budget was not as bad as I thought. Made me laugh though - public sector pay freeze - at my council certainly that's been in place for 2 years now! VAT will hit everyone, the support for new business outside the South East interested me.
