Hello! Has Mammy NIM gone now? That was very nice of her to buy the wedding rings, she must be coming round to the thought of you two getting married now!
Well done on last weeks list, I'd be incredibly proud if I'd done half of that!
I'm feeling quite sad with myself today, I'm no longer in the 18-24 category!Hmmm, will have to concentrate on other things, like the fact that OH is convinced that he wants a baby in 3 years- eeeekkkkk!!!!! Before then we have to fit in holidays to The Bahamas, New York, Las Vegas... oh, and we have to move to an actual house for said baby! Come on lottery.....
I thought I was the only freak who can understand more French than I can speak!
ETA: That took me ages to write! How annoying is that about the courier (grrr, I hate them!) and the mirror lady! My boss won a leather jacket a while back for about £5 and the woman e-mailed her saying that it had been 'damaged beyond repair', my boos e-mailed her back saying, 'Yeah right, I wouldn't have been happy getting £5 for it either....'. It's a right cheek, you sell something on an auction site and you take a chance that it may not go for much.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Well if you're aiming for 3 years at least you have a timescale to aim for. Is he still wanting to become a house husband? I think you need to really focus on the money situation to get things more comfortable for when you have a baby, as from what all my friends say any spare money they thought they'd have afterwards is eaten up 3x over!
I'm the same with pre-baby holidays. New York, Japan, China, Cuba, baby friendly places in Europe, the US and the UK can wait I need to do the more exciting stuff now! We also want to get the morgage under £100k max, ideally £80k, before we have a baby. Hmmm, to get under £80k would be about £40k to pay off - thats a scary ammount!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That is a very scary amount!
Not sure what we'd do about the job situation really, it'd be nice to have a house husband but realistically I'd have to be very very lucky to get a job that gives us that freedom. At the end of the day I have no bits of paper proving that I'm smart and capable so it'll be difficult to find someone who believe that I can do the job. And as it is OH is the higher earner so it may mean me going part time and him staying on 2-10, which isn't ideal. Bleh, I don't like thinking about these nasty scary things, like Scarlett O'Hara says, 'I'll think about that tomorrow!'Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Lol but if you are planning for kids, you need to plan on how to have them. You can't selectively be Scarlett O'HaraDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Why not?!?! I want to get the wedding out of the way then worry about how we'll afford kids as I can't be worrying about too many things at once, I can barely get too excited about the wedding through panicking about paying for it! I know it's a tiny amount that you could pay off in the space of 2-3 months but it's all relative to the individual and for me it's too much!
Oh and I went to see the optician on Friday (who is still lovely and gorgeous) who is really pushing me to have laser eye surgery as I'm a 'perfect candidate and I should get it sooner rather than later so I get my money's worth blah blah blah' which I didn't want to hear as I already really want it so that's another £2k I want to spend!
Fingers crossed that OH's parents send some early inheritance our way!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
wow birdie did you have a good day and general weekend?
I think its good you have a timescale. its something to work on and its a good idea! I have all these silly rough time scales in my head but I dont think they are that realistic! Its so annoying when you realise that things cost money isn't it!
cinny that tattoo sounds nice. Not for me, I am sooo needle phobic but hey, I think its lovely that you and your sister share such a close bond though.
Dinah I never realised it would cost that little for a holiday in new york with clubcard vouchers! So its about £175 in vouchers each? Does that get you the flights or anything? I have been giving all of my vouchers to my sister because she wants to pay for an OU course while she still can! That means I have none left nowI think I shall start saving them for myself now lol! (Not that I really get any! I never see those deals and then I never spend enough in Tesco really. Think I get about £5 every quarter if that, and thats a lot from the boy buying petrol!) I would like to save them though as I want to get him one of those driving days for his birthday in october.
That is so annoying about the mirror, I see their point but thats the point of ebay - you get bargains. If they wanted more that £6 then they should have had the starting price high enough. I am sure we have all sold things on ebay which we wish we could have gotten more for.
AQA are recruiting apparantly too by the way for researchers (one of those text god things) I fancy it but I dont know, it sounds pretty hard and competitive, has anyone else applied before?
I need to get a sserious wiggle on with revisioney today, and I have a few other bits I need to do Lucky me though - my boyfriend cleaned my room for me this weekend while I was revising and he has taken my harddrive to start sorting it out with all of the stuff from my old laptop!
I have written one DY review - I'm guessing the challenge died? I'm still going, just slowly lol and I got paid £9 from ciao the other day which was a nice little boost! Want to write 2 more reviews today but I am serioudly running out of ideas!0 -

We decided to try for a baby when OH was still in university, granted it was the final 2 months. We were just hoping that he would get a job and he did get one in September but to be honest if we were waiting for the right financial time we would probably only be starting to try this September (and be debt free!). I am so glad we didn't wait as we managed to save some money and will hopefully will be debt free by the end of 2010. Then we can concentrate on overpaying our mortgage!!!
Babies are expensive but as long as you can survive on one persons wages you will be fine. I would recommend having at least £5,000 in savings though, as it means you can enjoy your maternity leave and stay out of work for longer if you can.
Also, another thing I would recommend is to get a job with a company that has good maternity benefits. I work with a charity, so mine is rubbish. When I go for baby number 2 ideally I will be with a council (who have a better track record).Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi Tink!
I work for AQA. It's really good and I earn anything between £10-£350 per month depending on how hard I work and what effort I put in. I usually do it when I am watching the soaps so I don't really feel like I am working!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I'm trying to work out if I've got my New York figures right now! But I'm sure its about £830 per person, including flights. Virgin have a £700 in CC vouchers cap, a CC voucher is worth 4x the 'cash' price in the brochure, so we'd need £350 between us.
Thanks for mentioning AQA, I think I'll have another go at the application, I flunked it something rotten last time!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
