It's different in the respect that such a garment could not be resold as new, the store is reasonable in making attempts to ensure that when refunding in such instances that the returns process is not being abused by the incredibly vast practice of buying wearing returning.

It would depend on whether the tags are still attached, and whether it was returned in an 'as new' condition. I completely appreciate that there is no obligation for shops to accept returns in these circumstances, particuarly with a sale item. The post I quoted seemed to imply that trying an item on once made it unsalable, however items are tried on any number of times in a shop fitting room and are still considered new.

OP appears not to be on line at the moment but if you read her post 6 she clearly said :
"I am slating Debenhams policy, I think its unreasonable and for others unaware of the policy I was making them aware of it."

rubbish - of course they resell stuff that gets returned because it doesn't fit.

yeah , stupid people really turn me on
  • OP - I have a lot of sympathy with you on this one. I've had some pretty bad experiences with Debenhams staff, too - once, my boyfriend took a fairly expensive item back because it had broken after very little use, and we felt it must either have been faulty, or that it hadn't been made fit for purpose. The shop assistant was very polite, but the customer services manager accused me of lying about how much I'd used the item, what I'd used it for etc. I'm sorry, but I don't think you should go around accusing a customer of deliberately setting out to deceive you unless you have very good evidence - that's never happened when I've returned stuff to John Lewis or M&S, and now my boyfriend and I just don't shop at Debenhams.

Not rubbish at all, the vast majority of rag trade goods taken away from store and later returned are done so after the customer has used them to have a ragging good saturday night out in new kit they didn't want to pay for in the first place. Often deliberately damaged too in order to secure the refund, it's scandalous how much it goes on.

  • good grief

I was warning about the refund policy on sale products in Debenhams, to make others aware of something I was unaware of.
:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:
  • I'm not pompous or arrogant but I am sick of seeing posters like you trying to belittle other people, making ridiculous comments, mocking and insulting them for no reason.
