We have mammoth amounts of debt, personal and public, that debt is going to have to be paid, inflating away worked in the 70's, it's not an option now. With the arrival of peak oil, anyone thinking that if we do actually manage to get through this that we are on for another decade of unpresedented growth is sadly mistaken.

That's less than 0.5% of global daily usage.

Nothing currently known can scale like oil, now if we were to reduce the world's population by 2/3rds, I would agree that we have a chance.

Its a relatively new innovation,but also i dont buy the end of world scenario with oil running out.
There are relatively large parts of Libya and Iraq with a lot to offer.
