After what seemed like a long fortnight, my 11 day holiday from work begins! I've been feeling quite run down/irritated of late, so a good spell out of the office is just what I need to clear my head and focus on the finer things on life (not as if I ignore them the rest of the time, but you get my drift)
My new credit card arrived today, with a comic limit of £200Never mind, it's a start and it's not as if I really need a credit card anyway. I have set up a direct debit to make sure that the minimum payments are made every month, but I will also register for online banking in just a minute to make sure that I'm well behaved and pay it off in full as and when required (after all, no point in paying interest like a sucker!)
This will be a good holiday - GF yoinked me a couple of beers from a catered work function, so looking forward to sipping them and planning our week and a bit. On the to do list so far is: lots of Wii playing, a trip to the cinema to use our £1 MSE cinema tickets to watch 3D 'Clash of the Titans' in the West end, a trip to Hampton Court Palace for a Tudor cookery demonstration, a visit to the London Aquarium on my birthday (love that place!), a jaunt to Ikea to pick up some nonsense we probably don't need and oddles of QT and OTT cookery projects :T0 -

Urgh - I hate 'retail therapy'!
Have been into town for some shopping this morning as there were a few things that I wanted to sort out before my GF starts her Easter break this evening.
I picked up:- Highly glamorous compression socks for jogging (think man tights and you're getting there
)
- New mobile 'phone - the cheapest Nokia PAYG I could find in the 3 store for my new Sim Zero contract - I needed a new 'phone anyway and this way will help boost my credit score
- A pile of toiletries from Boots, all of which were sorely needed. I even took the GF's advantage card in with me and used a double points voucher/added on all the validated receipts I gave her and then she promptly forgot about!
- GF's Easter eggs (a Fairtrade one which Jay Rayner recommended and a smaller one which is a sort of monstrous hybrid between a banoffee pie and an egg)
- A sack of fancy seafood and wine products from Waitrose
It's strangely liberating to be able to hand over a piece of plastic for the shopping again, although I genuinely believe that it's easier to spend when you don't see the paper money.
Ah well, it will be paid back to my credit card in full when I get paid on Wednesday and I can count the Waitrose goodies as a birthday present to myself0 - Highly glamorous compression socks for jogging (think man tights and you're getting there

Jay Rayner's a journalist (particularly food), Claire Rayner is his mum. It's a Divine dark chocolate egg with chocolate covered walnuts - looks yummy0
