I know - I'm guessing it was an infection of some sort as overnight they gave her antibiotics and fluid and kept her on a heat pad.
The problem is that as she is so tiny any infection knocks her out completely whereas for a normal cat they probably could have slept it off!!

She is definitely worth it though!!
  • Thanks everyone for your comments - I thought some people might think it frivolous (like the glasses!!)

I might try and get a picture up this week - at the moment she has orange feet as she walked through DH's spag bol while he wasn't looking!!

Spent more money yesterday - it was Relative's birthday so we took him out for a meal. DH and I will go halves.

Forgot to say that the other day relative had a hospital appointment and he has been diagnosed with Parkinsons. He has had trouble with his legs for a few months, it started off with pain down one leg that the GP thought was sciatica, he had Physio but this did not help. The pain then turned in to tremors, when he was sat down for more than a few minutes when he got up his legs would be really shaky and he would have to wait until it stopped before he could walk, when he saw the GP again he said he would refer him to a consultant to rule out Parkinsons - this has taken about 8 weeks to come through and in the mean time I had been on Parkinsons website and all the symptoms are what relative has so we were half expecting it.
They will give him some medication to try but the consultant has warned that relatives type is harder to treat by medication. He has idiopathic and vascular Parkinsons.

We will just monitor the situation and keep closer tabs on him and attend all appointments with our feedback.
He also has heart problems and he has an appointment with a consultant on Friday so not sure what they will diagnose.

I tell you there is always something going on in the Elephant household.

The thing is that we are not actually family - relative is DH's mum's first husband (she was married to relative and had 2 children with him, she left him 10yrs later and moved in with DH's dad and they then had DH).

To outsiders we call him Uncle but in hospitals we call him our father/father-in-law.

Relative does have 2 biological sons who are both wastes of space and he is so embarrassed about them.

He gave them both £37k after he sold his house to move in with us and they spent it in 3 months and came back for more.
They don't work and fiddle the benefits system.

To give you an example of what one of the son's is like (the other one is an alcoholic and no one is really in contact with him), in the summer holidays we took relative to Pleasurewood Hills and we did not get back until 9.30pm as we stopped off for tea on the way back.
Relative's son had tried to contact him and couldn't. He made such a song and dance of it and then said 'As you haven't got a will can you write a letter leaving your stamp collection to me otherwise no one will know I must have it and you might have been dead!!!'

Yup no concern for relatives health (he is in sheltered as had pull cords if he needs help so unlikely he would just die without anyone knowing) just about what he can get his hands on - stamp collection is worth 60k+. What he doesn't know is relative has a will (he had one before that left his sons half of the house each and his stamp collection to go to DH and his mum (she died in 2008) but when he sold his house it was basically not worth it as the son's had their inheritance early) and it specifically leaves nothing to the 2 son's as they have had their money.

When relative dies it is going to cause so many arguments, we will have to arrange the funeral as we have the money to do it and they don't - they will kick off after the event and blame us for everything of course!!

  • Not much going on in the Elephant household (for a change:rotfl:)

Relative has been to see heart specialist and his swollen legs are not connected to a heart problem, it's more likely to be kidney related. A few years ago relative was told he had kidney failure so this is no surprise although when DH spoke to him about it he denied he had been told that!!
So we await a further GP appt.

Kitten has been back to the Vets for a check up - she put on 170g in 6 days (she was 370g and went up to 540g:T). They are really pleased for her!!

Had meal out on Sunday for relative's birthday - it was the worst meal for a long time. Relative enjoyed himself so that is all that matters. DH and I split the cost between us.

Friday we had DS' girlfriend round, she was 18 the day before so I got us all Domino's (they do a small gluten free base so at least I felt normal!!)

Other than those spends trying not to spend much - made the most amazing tea last night. Am fed up of things going off in the fridge so I got everything out that had been part used and cooked it up - I did onion, half a courgette, mushrooms, half a pepper, toms from the garden with some garlic, when that had reduced I added a quarter of a pack of fajita seasoning mix (we don't do fajitas anymore as DH can't have the spice and I can't have the wrap, the mixes are out of date), then I added half a tin of baked beans and some texas ranch sauce (huge bottle that DH got and hasn't used) and some veggie mince - OMG it was to die for!! There is enough left for a lunch at work next week.

Is anyone else signed up for Morrisons match & more card? On MSE they say it is not very good but I have done 2 shops and already have 2900 points. You have to collect 5000 points to get £5 of your shopping.

My first shop was in a tiny Morrisons in a town (like a local) where I got my card - my shop did not count to compare with other shops as it was under £15 but I got a till spit for 250 points if you spend £1.
I went to my normal Morrisons yesterday and spent £60, I got 1790 match points as my shop would have been £1.79 cheaper somewhere else and 1100 more points which was from the voucher above plus some products I wanted to buy anyway had extra points.
I then got my Week 1 voucher so if I spend £40 for the next 2 weeks on my 4th week I get £10 off when I spend £40 plus 10p off every litre of fuel.

I'm thinking this might be the best supermarket loyalty scheme for us - on my next shop I might make it to 5000 and then I get my £5 off.

Am I overlooking something and it's not that good??

We do have a Lidl in our town (as well as most of the other supermarkets) but I find it difficult on a weekend as it is so busy and they only have 2 checkouts open, we tried to go on a Saturday late afternoon and the shelves were bare - there was no veg, no toilet roll, no crisps.
If I lived closer I could go in the week after work but I assume the same shelves might be bare then as well.
