  • Is anyone else signed up for Morrisons match & more card? On MSE they say it is not very good but I have done 2 shops and already have 2900 points. You have to collect 5000 points to get £5 of your shopping.

My first shop was in a tiny Morrisons in a town (like a local) where I got my card - my shop did not count to compare with other shops as it was under £15 but I got a till spit for 250 points if you spend £1.
I went to my normal Morrisons yesterday and spent £60, I got 1790 match points as my shop would have been £1.79 cheaper somewhere else and 1100 more points which was from the voucher above plus some products I wanted to buy anyway had extra points.
I then got my Week 1 voucher so if I spend £40 for the next 2 weeks on my 4th week I get £10 off when I spend £40 plus 10p off every litre of fuel.

I'm thinking this might be the best supermarket loyalty scheme for us - on my next shop I might make it to 5000 and then I get my £5 off.

Am I overlooking something and it's not that good??

    .

Went to Morrisons last Sunday, I am trying to just spend £40 each week (for 3 weeks) which gets you the voucher needed to get £10 off a £40 shop on week 4.

We got 2170 points last week (that was 1770 match points as the shop was £1.77 cheaper elsewhere and 400 more points which is products which had extra points on).

I now have enough for a £5 voucher so when I go today I will get a £5 off voucher (no minimum spend) which is valid for 12 months - I will probably save them for Xmas.

Last week I also had a voucher for £5 off a £40 spend so that reduced the bill a bit as well.

I have another one of those to use today plus I have some More points as I registered my temporary card and have now got my plastic one and they have sent vouchers to use.
I might be back up to 5000 in 2 weeks again!!

    Anyone else using Morrisons?
  • Things were going well in the Elephant household until my Agnus Castus ran out this week:rotfl:

I happened to check mine and DH's joint email account (it is Outlook with 5 accounts linked, I use mine for committee work and DH uses his as his day to day email) and noticed he had a welcome email from his mobile phone supplier:eek:.
He already has a £29pm contract phone and he has decided to get another one  (through his work he can get 20% off the monthly cost but when he told me this I told him that when his contract ends he could take advantage of the offer). Now if I had been taking my AC I would have just kept my mouth shut but as I had ran out I ended up shouting at him - he is not sure why he got it but it's cheap (I told him that was not the point as his job is only temp until March although it should be extended) and someone can use it - well I have my own contract £10.78pm, DS has his own contract which I pay £11.78pm for and DD has a PAYG mobile that she never uses so who will use it???

Anyway yesterday it arrived, DH got in the door first and I did not realise the parcel had arrived until I was looking through the post and DD said 'there's a parcel there' but it wasn't. DH had got it first and hid it, I knew it was the phone so why did he need to do that:mad::mad:. Once he realised I knew he set it up and has given it to DD. But on top of all that he also has a tablet :mad: - he claims it was a free gift but I am not sure. The contract is £10pm, are they going to give away a free tablet??

I am just so angry, he has £23k+ of debts which get £1pm each (10 debts), he only works part time and his money does not stretch that far and then he spends more money on frivolous things :mad:

I know I could have all that and I do want a tablet/laptop after mine got broken by DS but I don't have the money so I haven't got one and manage without whereas I could just say blow the debts and spend all my spare money but I want to get debt free and DH doesn't get it.
He talks a lot about getting a farm and doing that full time but how can we when he can't even save a little bit of his wages as he is always spending :mad::mad::mad:

    And breathe..............

I have been managing to make my PADS most days although right now I am quite skint as this month there was 5 weeks between paydays and I am not paid until next Friday.

I need to update my mini challenge on here - not sure if I am going to meet it though :(
I was hoping to be under £500 on my last statements but I was £515 but the night before I paid £25 to bring it right under but the statement was produced overnight so when I saw the balance in the morning it was under £500.
I think it is nearly under £400 now but that is a lot to pay in one go.

I have been doing my surveys but a lot pay out in Amazon vouchers which I thought I would save to get a kindle/tablet as I would then appreciate it more.

I have paid a couple of cheques in so once these clear that can come of the debt as well.

Now off to my AC off Amazon, then to Morrisons and then off to a jumble sale:T

    Normal service will resume shortly!!!
  • I now have my Agnus Castus and normal service has nearly resumed in the Elephant household:rotfl:

Last Saturday afternoon I was tidying the lounge and found some paper with DH's writing on, it was notes he made while talking to Vodafone.
Just as I suspected the tablet is not really free - you pay £17pm for 24 months and then it is yours . Why he could not have waited and saved up for one and brought it outright I don't know:mad:

So he has a mobile contract for himself @ £29pm + a contract for DD of £10pm and the tablet is £13.60pm (he gets 20% discount). I have just done his budget for the month and he has hardly any money left after bills so I guess I will have to buy petrol for most of the month  (he is 1 days short on wages as he was really ill at the start of the month).

He also tried to fix someone's computer for them and brought loads of fancy wires which light up fluorescent which cost a fortune, he did what he could to it but could not get Windows 8 to install so has given it back to the man, he says the man will pay him for all the bits and pieces but I doubt he will
I despair of my husband sometimes.

    Hi Elephant :)

I am on my way to Morrison's in a minute. I have been using a Match & More card and am half the way to my first £5.00 voucher - not as good as you!

Most of my points are for diesel but we did a food shop last week and it was £40.00 plus-ish. My points for that were 410 which is worth 41p. If it always works out like that then that's 1% which is twice as good as a Nectar card :)

I just don't trust Morrison's - they have been struggling and doing all sorts of stupid things in their shops - basically cutting out a lot of their own brands and instead selling baby grows and installing a machine that soaks the vegetables in water......doh!!

I wanted to see a list of the other supermarkets prices that they were basing their scheme on but you can't and as I have said I don't trust 'em. Still.....the scheme has worked well so far and even if we shop at Asda or Tesco we stil end up in Morrisones because they have their own butchers and the meat is sooooooo much better than everywhere else. Knowing them, they'll probably decide to bin the butchers :rotfl: !!!!!

I'll let you know how my points work out this afty :)

So last Saturday I did indeed get my £5 voucher as I was past 5000 points. It is valid for a year so I will save them for now.

I also got carried away as we went to a bigger Morrisons than normal so instead of sticking to roughly £40 we spent £82.86:eek:. I had a £5 off £40 spend which reduced it to £77.86.

I got 320 match points on the day as my shopping would have been 32p cheaper elsewhere and I also used a bonus 1500 more point voucher but it did not show up and then 2 days later it showed on my account separately (the t & c's said this would happen)

One day last week I popped in to Morrison's for a birthday card which only cost £1.59 but I had another voucher for 250 more points if I scanned my M&M card and spent £1.
That 250 showed up within 2 days.

Before I went shopping today I had 2010 points.

This week is Week 4 and as I had my tokens I knew I would be getting £10 of a £40 shop plus I still had 1 voucher left for £5 off a £40 spend.

We ended up spending £71.40 but with coupons got £15 off.
I then got my 10p off a litre of fuel valid for a week - we will use this next week.
My shop would have been £3.91 cheaper elsewhere so I got 3910 match points and 500 more points (not sure what that was on) plus I used a voucher which came with my permanent card for 250 extra more points which again will show in 2 days. So by my reckoning I am way over 5000 points and will get a £5 voucher next week.

Now the Xmas promotion has nearly started so from 3/11 you have to spend £40 per week to get a voucher and after 6 weeks you get £25 off your Xmas shop (between 15/12-31/12).

    Hi Brogden

I subscribed to your diary last week when I [strike]stalked[/strike] followed you over from NoOne's diary. You are doing well with the envelope system.

I quite like Morrisons, my nearest one is quite small and it has not changed much since it was built a few years ago. They don't sell clothes or have a water sprayer although the one we went to last week (town in the opposite direction and about twice the size of my normal) had all of that and it totally threw me:rotfl:
The problem with the fancy veg layout is that I couldn't find what I wanted and kept going round in circles. I was glad to get back to my normal one this week where everything is just as it always has been on shelves.

I find their prices ok and while I can get some vouchers I will. I am a bit of a voucher tart because last weekend we also went to Lidl as I had a leaflet through with £5 off a £40 spend so we stocked up on some Xmas bits that we only like from Lidl and also some of their own brand butter which is so much cheaper than anywhere else and just as nice as Lurpak or Anchor.

Now that the Xmas promotion will start next week and run for 6 weeks I guess I will have to shop there now so I can get £25 off my Xmas shop - I am intending to stick to exactly £40 (I will have to take a calculator round :rotfl:) and top up on basics like beans etc.

DH has been talking for ages about building a stock cupboard/pantry in the outside shed (years ago it used to be the outside toilet) and now I think the time has come.
I'm thinking if I start stocking up now then come January I could have a No Spend January??

Haha - a voucher tart :rotfl: !!!!! I love the stock cupboard idea too!

Yesterday in Morrison's not too great......spent £40 odd and got points 210 like uuuurgh.......21p :( I say....I can't trust them and this scheme is a little 'opaque' and gives them the ability to manipulate a little if they feel a bit naughty

No point in complaining......they'd just say it shows how competitive their prices are and I ought to be pleased that I hadn't earned many points......:rotfl:

I didn't know they were doing the Christmas deal this year.....we thought Match & More had replaced it and so did their uneducated staff!! Mrs Brogden will be pleased......she's been in tears about this for the last couple of weeks :( Mrs Brogden doesn't understand Match & More and keeps telling me to shut up about it :rotfl:

  • We don't have a Mr M here :( nearest is 17 miles away. Shame really as i'd get a nice discount (thanks to mum working there).

I have to take my dog to the vets tomorrow I forgot to mention it on my diary, reading yours has just reminded me! He has an ear infection I think :( poor little thing he's feeling very sorry for himself after I bathed him and plucked loads of hair out of there :o

Keep going on the mini targets are you doing a new one each month? The stock cupboard sounds a great idea! I used to have one when kerri was doing her challenge on the OS boards, DH kept taking the mick and telling me off for "hoarding" so I kind of just gave up! xxx

At the moment I am doing ok with match points so I am happy with the system:rotfl:

Up until a few months ago I hadn't shopped at Morrisons regularly for a few years so didn't even know they did a Xmas bonus thing - I logged on to my M&M card yesterday to check my points and I saw something about Xmas bonus and thought 'ooh what's this?' and there it was!!
Maybe the staff haven't been told.

Hope Mrs B is a happy bunny today with news of the Xmas bonus :rotfl:
