He really needs a doctor's appointment and soon. Also has he told his acupuncturist about the depression? There was a study where two groups of depression sufferers were given acupuncture, one group specifically targeted for depression and the other group just general treatment. The group that got targeted treatment had significant improvement comparing to the other group.

Don't kick yourself. He is a grown up. He is ill but he is a grown up. You have been and are there for him. He knows it but these things come out of his mouth, he knows he is saying them but it is not him talking really. I hope this makes sense.

The acupuncturist knows that DH has depression but I don't think she is specifically targeting it as up until this week his depression was not too bad and his head was the worst. I think this is something that will continue for a long time so maybe when his head is better we can as about trageting the depression.

  • Well what a whirlwind part of the week.

DH went back to the office on Thursday having not slept at all Wednesday night - he promised to ring me if he got too tired and I would meet him to drive the car. He had appointments first thing but he got a call from the office to say someone wanted to see him - he thought it was a client but when he got back to the office it was his current Team Leader.

They had a chat for 2 hours and he handed her his resignation letter  but she tore it up and said she would not accept it :rotfl:and then shredded it. She also mentioned the interview points and how it all boils down to this, DH tld her that it was aload of nonsense and she herself had got a new role that she had not applied for as the applicants were not up to standard

She is not sure why he wasn't appointed but agree's that DH should work to rule and do no more than his job spec. She also admitted that she didn't know how she would teach the new Team Leader her role as DH does most of it so she's not sure how to do it  but she does not expect DH to teach him - 'cos surely if he is not good enough to be Team Leader himself then surely he can't have the skills to teach him :rotfl:

DH was feeling much better by Thurs night and has sent an application form of for a job which would really suit him.

DH's 'extra' depression around this seems to have lifted and I think that is because all his colleagues are really shocked and thought he would walk it so he feels now that his expectation was not too high plus they hate the guy who has got the job :rotfl:

DH has a meeting with his Manager who conducted the interview today so that will be interesting.
  • I am behind on PAD, I have just not had the time or inclination to really come on here so need to start afresh this week.

Checked my Halifax statement and this month if I had not made some PAD's to it the balance would only have reduced by £1.00

This is because the minimum payment is last month's interest plus £5 but if you have a month like February where there are only 28 days the minimum payment is lower than normal obviously but in March there are 30 days so the interest is a little bit higher which wipes out the extra £5 they ask for and so the money in and the money out are nearly equal

So now I'm thinking it will take forever to pay this back

Need to really sort out a plan for all this.

DH does appear to be on the MSE wagon, his renewal came through which was £20 per month more expensive so he went on the comparison sites and found Tesco were cheaper so he will go with them from payday.

Just need to get his bank account back in order.
  • Just checked Maximiles and I am up to 7847. :j

So far this month I have collected 1565 points, last month I collected 1590 so I am hopeful I will beat my target of beating last month. :T

Still not managed to PAD and now going out to meet friend for lunch!!
  • Sorry no apologies for being MIA - we have had a bereavement in the family :(

He was my cat but we loved him like he was a child - we had him the year we started dating - 1999 and now he has gone in the blink of an eye.

The worst bit is we will never know the truth about what happened to him.

We are truly gutted and I am even more worried about DH's mental state - he is just not coping very well.

The only facts we know for definite are that DH saw him Thursday morning approx 10am and when he returned 2 hours later he was not at home (we assumed he had gone for a wander) and that a lady handed him into the vets on Thursday (but we did not know this until we called in to the vets on Saturday)

The lady who handed him in said that she had found him at the station in the nearest town  which is 7 miles away just after he had been hit by a car .
If you knew my cat you know he would never walk there so we are left pondering whether he was there or whether this lady actually hit him outside our house, felt so guilty and drove him there

The not knowing is the worst bit and we are struggling to cope with the thoughts of it.

If what the lady said was true then we think he has climbed into someones car when the door was open, they have then driven to the station and when they opened the door he was there and he would have been so scared he would have ran and then he got hit

I think I am in denial at the moment, even though I have viewed him and I am 99% sure it is him I still keep thinking he will be waiting by the door when we get home :( but then I accept it for a little while and then I swing back to denial.

I am trying to see the good in this whole sorry episode and the good things are that someone took him to the vets, they were brilliant they tried to save him but unfortunately his head injuries were too severe and luckily they keep all 'strays' deep frozen for 2 weeks so at least we were able to see him. I can't imagine if he had been just lost for ages but he was actually laying dead by the side of the road or wandering around near the station lost :(

The only other positive is that at least we did not have to make the decision, we could not imagine ever having to decide if he was put down and we would have paid thousands for treatment.

We have opted for a cremation (we have never done this even though we have had loads of cats) so he will be back home in a few weeks :( but until then the whole family is unsettled - the other cats don't want to be inside the house :(.

DH said he thought he was more devastated than when his mum died and I feel more devastated than when my nanna died (god rest her soul), just never knew it would have this effect on us.
  • Gosh it's been an expensive weekend - I had my eyes tested and need new glasses and contacts so that was £227 .

Then of course DH felt we should call in at the vets on the off chance so that ended with another £88 for the cremation. (Of course I don't mind paying that)

Luckily yesterday was a very cheap day, we headed down to the beach - a lovely one that is not to busy as it is a bit out of the way - the best bit is that apart from a cafe and an ice cream van there is no where else to spend money :T so the kids were happy with the picnic we took, we went crabbing and played in the sea so a great day had by all.
It was lovely I didn't worry about the cat at all but as soon as we pulled in and he wasn't at the door it all seems real again :(
  • My Maximiles are up to 7877 :j

Septembers total was 1595 which beats August by 5 points :rotfl:

Need to concentrate on this again as I want at least 2 vouchers by Xmas but this is looking unlikely.

Not even checked my bank account for 2 weeks, have missed PAD and got paid last week so tonights job is to sort the banking and hope I have some money to pay extra.

Oops just realised I have not done the totals for September either - gosh I am so slack. :rotfl:

That is so beautiful.... EE as my name suggests I love cats... I have two and have lost two :( One the same as you... Unfortunately no=one cared enough to look at his collar and return us to him... We found him, and it is a shock, horrendous... The only saving grace is he did not suffer, and for that I feel grateful, along with the guilt of letting him out that night:(

But like you we loved, adored him... and the two little men we have left are adored, they are part of the family, respected and loved ... and thats the way pets should be looked after... Why bother having them otherwise... I feel for you... hope you and DH are okay...

Please tell DH in life nothing is fair, he obviously deserved the job but unfortunately that does not necessarily make it yours :( Again and I keep saying it.... please roll on that bloody lottery win :) x
