Long time no visits...life goes on!

Was off work as I have had a prolapsed disc - quite horrendous, hospital, carers at home, off work until last month but very grateful to be managing the pain.
Debt total gradually going down, need to update siggy and that, but feel out of control with it all (read back over my posts and wow! recurring theme
).
Boiler seems to be on the way out, don't know whether to believe the British Gas man, but can't afford to get other people in to check his views. Looks like I will need to get a new boiler, and therefore powerflush the system, but have zero funds for that. Like really, nothing. I am incredibly lucky that the DMP is working well and the debt is going down, but I really think I could be doing more and getting more paid/saved for things like this. Thing is, I do enjoy the children being able to do their activities and that's were some of the money goes out of the grocery budget.
On the positive, I know I can save money (and have been) by shopping at Lidl, taking lunches into work etc.
I have been invited to do exam marking again this year, but as my back went during the last exam marking period, I'm concerned stress might add to the problem. I don't know what to do about that.
I guess really I'm writing on this to just attempt to get my jumbled thoughts out and hopefully straighten them out a little!
I do hope all are well, I've tried to read a bit, but as always I've missed sooo much!

Good to hear from you.
Was just thinking about you the other day.
Boo to back problems but yah to the debt going down.
How much longer are you on the DMP?
Could you maybe get a local plumber out to check the boiler?I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Think about another 2 years on the DMP and then I think about another year paying off the family debt at the same rate

I need to find some money to get a local plumber to look at the boiler which is the issue. Will have to have a think.
Nice to see ya!

Hmm..my searching on british gas have made me see that I'm paying well over the amount new customers pay for the same cover.
Need to work out the different work that needs doing on the boiler/flush/radiators etc and find someone who will give it a once over cheaply so I know what exactly is the problem with the boiler
Just need some time to be able to look at all the money and incomings/outgoings. I fall asleep soon after the children at night (so tired right now I couldn't form words properly earlier!! Not good when I'm trying to teach) so am going to have a go this weekend, once I've done all the work i need to do from work.
Getting good ideas from just reading threads on the board

Eek! Ex told me about Help Link where you got a new boiler for £17 a month - he didn't know it was a £474 deposit and a 10 YEAR loan! Not doing that again!!!
So back to the drawing board - saving for a local plumber's opinion and taking it from there

Well, very erratic with this diary, eh?!
I know my problem, it was staring me in the face all along but I have been ignoring it. I have a view of life that quite simply does not allow for frugal living - I have some superior belief (quite wrong btw) that I am 'worth' all those little extras I spend, that I couldn't possibly give up some of the things I spend money on etc etc. I don't know, I read some of the amazing things on this board and on various blogs and it is mind boggling it really is.
I guess this misguided attitude is one that got me into debt - that I somehow 'deserve' to spend money of fripperies, or stuff that is not really necessary but my budget allows, when actually if I saved it all I could pay off debt faster, save for the new boiler, save for house improvements etc etc.
I basically need to get a grip, realised this after how many years?!!!
Hmm. Focus is lacking, maybe this is why the only goal/dreams I have are really very wishy washy as discovering what I do want would take effort and I'm just not able to apply myself to it.
Moan moan. Will go read some more inspiring stories!
Much love to all xxxxxCCCS DMP:Feb 07
