Took the kids to the Christmas fayre in town - missed the lighting of the crib due to getting us all in about 4 layers (which we are still in - the heating is struggling big time!!).

The kids enjoyed it - used their money to go on the waste of money hook a duck and they also went on a little ride. I just felt an overwhelming sense of sadness about the whole thing.

I think I'm just really *feeling* it this year - previous years I was either covering my feelings with alcohol and last year I had the full drama of the ex-bf going on. Who rang me on some stupid pretence last night. Short conversation. But I hear a bit about him through others, and it looks like he's on a quick road to death through his continued drinking. :(

Putting a brave face on for the kids - just sad for them that while mos tof their friends have their mum and dad there doing all christmasy things, it's just me.

Argh. Need to shake this silliness and self pity off.

Ah, don't feel you have to shake it off, those are understandable feelings. I bet a lot of us parents feel that our families aren't as 'good' as other families- but I bet your kids don't think that. They re having a lovely time with you.

I think many of us feel like that at this time of year.
I often think I have failed as a parent & let my DS down.

As the product of a broken home, I would say that they don't really notice unless their noses are rubbed in it by cruel friends. And even then they will forget the comment quite quickly. Particularly the age they are. It was later when i felt it more, because my half brother and sister had come along by then and they got presents of my dad and I didn't. That really sucked. So you are doing fine. Remember you also don'thave the tablets to blunt the edges any more either.

Thanks :) Not been posting on my diary as don't have much dfw stuff to say and there are lots of diaries!

We had a lovely Christmas, Sophia's bday and mine. All good stuff, although relieved it's over :D Now just tonight to do and back to normal!

News from here - debt will be hammered this coming year - fed up of it!! So going to budget like crazy and really try to add on little bits to the debts - worked with getting the bcard paid, so should help - it's all money off even if just a quid here and there. Big news - got a man! A lovely, uncomplicated, amazing man. So fingers crossed as it's early days...and he lives in York so a bit of a distance, but hey, if it's meant to work, it will do :)

The children are happy, I am happy (not just because of the man, as that would be silly, but generally happy) and all is good for now. And when things aren't, just need to remember things will get better :)

Much love and new year wishes to you all
