What are the full costs of running it month to month? ie.tax, MOT, petrol etc etc. Weigh this up against public transport costs :)

Don't forget to factor in cow-print seat covers too ;)

Doh! Can't get the link to work: http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=486
Bus pass = £42 per month or £504 per year.

I would pay the insurance up front, but it's about £240 for the year (fully comp, tbh as the car is worth naff all we would probably just do 3rd party insurance) so £20 per month for insurance. Tax is £190 for the year due to it's planet-killing engine, so that's £15.83 per month.

So you're talking £430 before you put [strike]petrol[/strike] diesel in it or get it through an MOT, but we wouldn't be MOTing it for another year. I don't know what to do!!

Also looks like you're trying to link to a banned website :D

How much are you likely to spend in fuel each month? Is it going to be less than the cost of your travel atm? Has it got an MOT? If so for how long?
Tbh, if Mr F's stepdad looks at it and its sound, I'd probably go for it. For £30, even if it only lasts for 6 mnths then you have to scrap it, you will have saved. You can always get a refund on the tax/ins :)

I agree with Sarah. You also need to add in the amount you spend on hiring cars when you go away, thanking friends for giving you lifts and it will allow you to look at jobs slightly further afield x
