  • Thumbs up from here for the bed / 0% / possible bonus plan. All seems very sensible to me, with one exception - still pay off over the interest free period even if you DO get the bonus - no point in them having the money sooner than they need to when it isn't costing you anything to keep it for a while! :D

    Hi all,

    The Family Fresian are away (Thank the Gods) and life here is pretty much back to normal. The spare room is painted and looking a lot nicer, and the bed and carpet are on order. Mama Fresian ended up paying for the carpet as I just couldn't pay the full amount right now - was less than £150 in the end though as we didn't need the underlay which was the same price as the carpet! I just need to pay the fitter when they deliver the carpet, which is fine.

    I've spent a lot of money this weekend, but it's not coming from the Frugal Challenge money as I knew this was coming and there is money set aside for it, either in the Debt Account or from my imaginary bonus.

    I have another 4.5 hours of overtime to put through which I worked on Saturday which is good, I doubt there will be more for a while!

    Hope everyone else has had a good weekend!

    Money Post

    PAD = £45
    Entertainment = £2.43
    Groceries = £116.90
    Purse = £20.91

    Amount spent this weekend - Scary amounts :eek::D
  • FF - you know your PAD money is £45. Well, what do you do with it, how do you get it?

    Is it that you get your wage and put £45 away, then literally pay a day, or am I missing something? xx

    (need to start doing something similar meself)

    #PS - well done on getting spare room sorted!
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23

    On payday I put anything not accounted for by bills/food/entertainment into my PAD account. I used to have a spends account (Only account I have a card for) and just use that for cash then send money to the PAD account.

    This way if I need cash I have to take it from the account I think of as PAD. I'm finding that this is stopping me from using as much cash, as I have to take £10 PAD money out of the account to enable me to withdraw from the cashmachine.

    I'm only PADding £1-£2 per day at the moment in case I need cash, but will send the rest of the money the day before payday.

    Does that make any sense? Sometimes I think us MSE folk over-complicate stuff!

    lol FF I do the same with the pad stuff - my pads have to come from my spends money (which is currently not a lot) hence my recent loose change pads! It is overcomplicated but isn't that the MSE way - confuse yourself into not spending anything hehe.

    Total spend this weekend so far has been £357.84 (And that's with Papa Fresian's contribution to the bed!)

    Good news - I have a job interview tomorrow morning at 8am. :eek: It's 11 miles away but I have calculated that because I need a bus, train and a walk that it will be about 1 hour 15 minutes I will need and that it will cost around £20 to get there :eek:

    I think it might be cheaper to rent a car, so I'm checking this out now!
