    Hello everyone.

I've been a bit preoccupied for a while because my DH and I got married yesterday :j

It was all very frugally done too since it cost us the grand total of £255.88, so another reason to celebrate :rotfl:

Right I need to refocus on my frugality!

:j  Wow! Congratulations! :T
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

  • Ahhhhhh - congratulations kittiej & OH :smileyhea And a frugal wedding too ! :T:T:T

CW18 - go for the hairdo - you'll feel tons better, hope your new man appreciates it !

frugaldom - do we get photo of new baby chicks???

suzywuzy - thanks for the heads up on Mr A cod fillets 4 x £3 - will go up next week & hope they got some left. (Need to use up some of the freezer stash, coz I can't squeeze any more in ) :o

Got a bonus today from Mr T when I went for bogof cheese - got 4 with some other bits. Change was ok so didn't check bill til home. Till lady had done discount wrong. so got 3 free instead of two. Mr T actually paid me £3.68 for going in there :D (if it had been small local shop, I would've gone back in to pay, but figured Mr T wouldn't miss it).

2nd bonus was £4.00 in coop vouchers as I complained re decidedly yucky cakes in Jan. (Nice suprise, cos I wasn't expecting anything)

It's pouring with rain here now, looked bad on news if you live in Scotland ! Good luck with all snow & power cuts. Phwoooar !!! It made me feel cold just looking at it.

Have a great weekend all, will update sig when worked out spends.
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Here's wishing you and your new hubby a lifetime of love and happiness (luckily these don't cost anything!).

    :j:T:j
You are doing great paying off your debts and with all your challenges. I've given up alcohol too; not sure if it's permanent but I'm not that pushed on it so what's the point on wasting money on it.

I'm still doing fine budget-wise despite treating myself to a lavender plant in a pot from LIdl this week. I also got some fertiliser for my berry shrubs.

My home baking kept me in lunches in college all week and there is still a bit left. I don't have any more bread flour; I wonder if I could use some plain flour to make rolls? Would save me going shopping over the weekend.

I had a realisation the other day. My college is in town and I used to sometimes browse in shops to see if there was anything I needed or to kill time waiting for buses. But I copped on that if I don't go into shops, I won't buy anything - pretty obvious I know! Shops, magazines and TV ads are designed to persuade me that what I have isn't enough, that I need more stuff. So I ignore all this now and just stroll in the park if there's a long wait for my bus, or stay in college a bit longer. So the only money I've spent is on my pre-paid bus ticket; nothing on snacks/lunches/coffee or stuff I don't need in shops. This is a big change for me since last year so I'm quite pleased with myself and I know I'm not in the slightest bit deprived.

Have a lovely Friday evening everyone! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

    Congratulations :T

Well, had a boooooring shift at work today (not enough to do!) - but I now have a whole week off :T

Had planned to start on raised beds this weekend, but DS "didn't hear" the chap who came to deliver the wood - so I've come home to a note asking me to contact them to rearrange delivery (which I'll no doubt have to pay for now  )

Does, however, mean I've no excuse for not getting on with some very intensive (and desperately needed) h-word instead :o If anyone sees me posting on here at regular intervals over the next week (I probably show as signed in most of the time, as I leave my laptop on with one browser on this forum, so the green light isn't a good indicator of whether I'm surfing or getting on with things) pleeeeease nudge me to go and get on with the h-word !!! (The exception being Saturday night, as I'm over at DDs baby-sitting)

:j:beer::T CONGRATULATIONS KITTIEJ, that is wonderful news, I am so happy for you. I love that there are still people out there who can see the point of frugal weddings. I wish you health, wealth and a life full of happiness together forever. :D Now tell all! Was it a long planned out event with both families in arrendance or was it a secret elopement to Gretna Green? :D

Pagangirl, all the chick photos are on my blog site in signature plus there's one posted in the 'Let's keep chickens' thread. :D [STRIKE]The chick in my avatar is now a mum! LOL Must update that.[/STRIKE] Updated, the chick in my avatar hatched this morning. :)

Thanks for the congrats and nice messages :)

OH, no now I can call him DH :jhis family came, a couple of girls from work turned up as a surprise!

If I'm honest I don't really see much of my family any more because they live too far away, but there were 15 of us at the register office and then 13 went on to a carvery pub for a meal. £3.59 and you could really pile your plate. My food was a little more expensive at £4.99 because I'm a veggie, but they still handed me another plate to pile any veg onto, so I had lots. Not everyone wanted a pudding so for the 13 of ( includes our 2 sons) the food came to £53.44.

The register office was £103.5, bits n bobs/ clothes came to £54, our rings cost ££23.48, they were 18ct white gold HGE but when we've got a bit more money we can replace these, and a cheapy two tiers of the celebration cakes from Tesco which cost £21.48 and it's really nice fruit cake - so if anyone else is planning on having a frugal wedding then I would say buy these cakes.

The registrar was lovely and she really made us feel at ease, ( she even told DH she'd give him a slap if he tried to run away now lol) Family n friends took loads of pics so I'm hoping we can put a decent album together.

It's not everyone's cup of tea I know, but we don't buy into the big wedding stuff, I wouldn't be able to cope with lots of people anyway. We didn't want a night do either, DH's sister said 'you've got to have a party' and DH replied I'm almost 50 not 24! :rotfl:

So we enjoyed it, the sun shone for us so everything was perfect.

Anyway, what's this about Cheryl having a new man on the scene? What have I been missing?

We've been "chatting" on the 'net since 13th, and on the phone (and by text) since last weekend. Due to meet up at a local park to take my dog for a walk a week on Sunday :D

To say I feel as if I'm a teenager again is ridiculous - but true!!! Regular butterflies in panic at the thought of meeting.... but also in nice anticipation at the same time if that's possible :o

I've seen pics of him (and his youngest daughter, and his grandson)

ETA: Grandson "belongs" to middle daughter - youngest isn't that old yet ;)
