EasilyAggravated wrote:clampers are the scurge of the earth. they really are absolute scum. they take great pride in robbing people. its not just a few quid either. its an extortionate amount of money and what makes it worse is the fact that this government is doing nothing about it. they're practically condoning it by not getting involved. its about time we all stood up against these thieving toerags and made our voice heard. and as for it being dark, well if its an area where clampers are in operation then surely they should have sufficient lighting for the signs to be seen. as the law states that signs should be seen, if you cant see them for whatever reason then id be making my case known.
take it further. dont pay them. and then make a claim for loss of earnings due to the fact you need your car for work. they deserve all they get, and more.
While I agree totally with your sentiments, the fact is the Government DO recognise the problem and have been doing something about it.-

I've had a clamping company chasing me for over a year trying to extort money from me. Threats of court, debt agencies nasty phone calls, - they really are the 'scum of the earth'.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -

I think you have every right to challenge them through the courts, on the basis that the fee was increased unnecessarily, and that the DVLA charge XX (60?) amount for clamping release, so the fee is extortionate and out of proportion. You can also look into the idea that if they have no interests in the land then they can't take money from people, I think the money they take has to go to the landowner for it to be legal, (not sure but someone said that here once) it's worth looking into and asking a solicitor about.

I say !!!! them they are the scum of the earth however the police can do nothing about it if they have the authority of the landowner
my advice pay the money get your car back then whack in an insurance claim against them for all the damage they have done
they will have done some damage whether scraping the wheels when puting on the clamp or when they try and tow it away (handbrake on )T&C APPLY0 -
Also if you (or her) were present when it was towed away, should have sat in the car and locked the door, they can't tow it when you are in the car.
SOunds like maybe she came saw the car, went away to call them meanwhile thugs in the van were waiting and towed it away when she had gone.0 -
Goes back to my brillient idea i had - buy four clamps from halfords and clamp your own wheels - like to see them do something about that!0

hawkwinddotcom wrote:Once the "offender" has paid up and got their car back, really annoy the clampers every night your on shift and phone them (withholding your number) every few minutes, then let them get back to sleep and phone them again.
It doesnt matter about them as they are scum and deserve all the sht you can give them.
Yes, really good advice, NOT!
You could get arrested for nusance calls and for the advice, conspiracy to commit an offence. Grow up!0 -
