I kept a spending diary in 2009, heres what came in and out

    OUTGOINGS
£319 - Taxi Fares you have a bus pass
£455.74 - Virgin Media why bother when you needed so many dvds too
£248.68 - Mobile Phone buy a payg and talk less
£169.34 - DVD Rental and the point of paying for vigin media was?
    £584.71 - DVD's/Blu Rays as above
£386.96 - Books Get a library card - it costs nothing to borrow a book
£246.33 - Video Games too much free time, lol
£413.84 - Magazines money to burn considering the above items too
£250.53 - Comics I'm begining to get lost for words - try a walk to pass time
    £182.01 - CD's another waste

£1,493.52 - Collectibles Seems you have a few other collectables too, eg £575.53 - Loan repayments £534 - Credit Card Repayments£886.04 -Overdraft interest and payments
£565.67 - Exercise Equipment wasn't the Gym cheaper assuming you had time to go.
£119.75 - Computer Software not bad except when added to all others

    OVERSPEND - £1,900.75

Quite depressing when you write it all down!

On the good side, at least you have been honest.

Joking aside, at least you can look back at what you bought and set a limited budget for 2010.
  • Bit harsh Lizzie!
Taxi fares are after a night on the town, no buses then!
Virgin is for TV/broadband, landline, the rental is for films. Yes, I do buy some as well though!
Books - do need to cut down, got 160 that I havent even read yet! (yes, I counted!)
Whats wrong with comics! Best entertainment there is! The gap between panels is where your mind and imagination step in and provide the third and fourth dimension, which is space and time - space within which movement occurrs, time for the duration of that movement. Comics are the most interactive entertainment there is!
Mobile phone bill has been bumped up this year by entering the Gadget Show competitions each week like a sucker, £1.50 per text.

But yeah, I do need to cut down spending next year!

There is nothing wrong with comics - it is the whole bill for everything.

I was kind leaving in your booze bill and the xxxx (didn't dare guess what that was for).

Do you realise the ones I did pull come in at just over £100pw in total?

I was trying to be light hearted with the comments in red as I did appreciate that you realised you had to cut down this year. You seem to be paying far too much for things you are only going to eventually use to then sell on ebay.

Being honest, there is no point paying for TV if you are not going to watch it to get your moneys worth - with your lifestyle it is impossible. Without the TV I could understand the DVD rental (no point in buying though).

I guess you are male - do you really need a taxi?

Hi Noselfdiscipline, I just wondered are you a collectoholic? ;)
Just asking as the amount of books, comics and dvds you bought, your place must be bursting at the seams?
We've got about the same amount of books as you but they are used, gardening, cookery and reading books, and the novels are read or in the middle of being read. Maybe you could thihnk about selling some of them, pick 10% of them that you are least likely to read?

When we bought this house nearly 9 years ago I had much the same thing but it was with linen, so now I've got enough bedlinen and curtains to last 2 lifetimes.....

Don't get rid of your boiler insurance you might need it one day...

Your hobbies seem to be of a person who is still living at home if you don't mind me saying, you seem to have spent a heck of a lot on entertainment but only £11.74 on furnishing, is your house finished completely?
I only ask as there doesn't seem to be any money there that you might have spent on gardening equipment or decorating?
