The have "Counter current heat exchangers" at the tops of their legs..Arteries supplying warm blood to their feet break up into many smaller vessels that are closely allied to similar numbers of venous vessels bringing cold blood from their feet.Heat flows from the warm blood to the cold blood,so little of it is carried down to their feet.........
Thanks leveller. Working p/t in a library that's a book I see quite a bit and its good to know the answer. Its something like number 53 on my to read list, so I won't get to it until 2011. Its sister book, "Does Anything Eat Wasps?" is also popular, but I don't yet know the answer to that either if you want to drop another fact our way. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Chips and gravy MUST also have salt and vinegar. Best place for it is the Seafarer, Northwich. Second best is the Pen1stone road turning off the M1 near Huddersfield.0
