For someone that wasn't speeding, you ask a lot of questions about these cameras!

14 days, but there are well known exceptions to the 14 day rule.

    Hello everyone

Does anyone know if the Average Speed Cameras On M1 between Jct10-Jct12 are operational.

Driving thru a couple of days ago and came across 12 of these cameras.
    However, there were

    No warnings

No signs indicating cameras and/or speed limits

and some cameras have signs saying "camera not in use" and some don't.

Was doing 70mph when I encountered the 1st camera, slowed down to 60mph

However people were shooting past me at higher speeds

If anyone knows if these Average Speed Cameras On M1 between Jct10-Jct12 are operational, or where I can find the information.

    It will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

If there were no road works or signs then there is a good chance they are not operational .... YET, there were some on the M6 J10 down to J8 my road angel never updated me but there were no roadworks at the time, after a few months the roadworks appeared as did the alerts on my road angel, I have only been aware of Specs cameras on the motorway when there are roadworks in progress, other than that the streets of Nottingham have them . There are plenty of websites that will tell you the location of the cameras.

There cameras were put in place during the 50 mph restriction during M1 widening project.

Now work has stopped and there are signs indicating "Camera not in use".

I use this stretch daily - so I won't worry much.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Has anybody ever got a ticket for speeding through a Specs camera zone?
or do you know anyone who has?

I have asked this on many forums and the answer upto now is 100% no.

I think these cameras are more a deterrant and dont actually work, having said that, I obey them, just incase!

Yep they do work, a friend of mine got done by the Nottingham ones years ago (back when SPECS cameras were new and many people didn't know about them yet).

I suspect the reason that not many people are caught out by them these days (going by your anecdotal comment - I don't have the actual figures!) is down to the fact that most people know that that do work and so don't speed through them. I don't think I've ever seen anyone go though them at anyting much above the speed limit!

Peronally I just stick cruise control on if the traffic is flowing freely, or the speed limiter if not then don't worry about it!

I drive for a living and always stick to the limit when in a specs zone, however I see lots, and I mean LOTS of vehicles passing me clearly going faster.
    Not convinced.

Also when travelling at night, some specs glow red (I assume the infra red detection so they can see in the dark) however, many dont at all.

Can anyone on here shout out if they got caught by a specs zone?

Lets face it, if the govenment placed a shoe on a stick by the side of the road and put up signs saying SOAS camera zone 50mph, most people would slow down wouldn't they, apart from the hardcore, slow down for nothing, speeders!
