Johnnie sometimes i put a note in at the bottom saying how i will post outside of the uk aslong as they pay postage rounded up to the nearest £. Make pennies on this aswel if something comes to £6.15 and they have agreed £7.

I wouldn't recommend that as it could affect your seller performance ratings. You're less likely to get a five star rating of P&P costs if you have over charged by nearly £1 even if you did say so in the listing.

I tend to charge enough to cover the packing plus max 30p/40p, usually less. The best thing about offering international postage is that you reach out to millions more buyers than just those in the UK so that alone is worth it. I have never lost an international parcel on my private account and I have been selling worldwide since I started five years ago

    Hi

When I went Self Employed I rang up Tax Credits and told them that I was Self Employed and that I would be working x amount of hours a week, when I stopped being Self Employed I rang them up to tell them and it didn't change what we got each month as we were still in the same earning bracket.

When you do a Tax Return you can take off things such as electricity if you work from home, petrol if you use a car (my Post Office is at the end of my road so I don't put down any petrol usage), you can also allow for packaging, I'm just doing my 08/09 Tax Return, it's been a nightmare as I never updated my spreadsheet so I'm now having to go through all my receipts to put in how much I paid for the items.

I re-registered today and the guy I spoke to asked if I was interested in doing a half day course which they offer to Self Employed people, I never got offered it first time round but would like to go this time, I think they explain things like keeping records and what records you need to keep and what you are allowed to take off your profit. I've never had to pay tax as I've not earnt enough but I do my Tax Return online and then they send me a statement saying I don't need to pay tax, they just like people to declare what they have earnt, much better that way than to get caught not declaring it and having a huge fine to pay.

    The mileage rates are here.

Don't forget that you need to keep all your receipts for postage and packaging materials, and any other costs you incur in the course of selling your items, plus of course the invoices from the wholesaler for the things you buy. All these costs come off your selling revenue to calculate your taxable profit.

    Thanks for the advice :)

And please could I be added to the list? Ill sort out my target tomorrow, up with my OH at the moment who has swine flu

    Evening everyone
Help please with greenmet .......... just listed 19 books and they are all showing except for one that I added postage to - I then took the postage off and it still doesn't show - any ideas ????

Also - is it better (financially) to list fiction paperbacks on greenmet rather than putting a price on them on amazon ? and do we REALLY make a profit after the p&p are taken into account ??

Check sales listings and end cost to buyer. For instance I wouldn't bother listing 1p novels on Amazon unless it was very high in the sale ranking and that usually means that they won't sell on Greenmet either as the end cost to buyer is higher. A 1p novel on Amazon costs th ebuyer £2.76, on Greenmet the buyer would pay £3.75.

However, I also look at number of copies listed on Greenmet, so a slim 1p novel on Amazon with high sales ranking might be worth listing on Greenmet but with a discount if there are no other copies.

Sorry this is about as clear as mud, but I sort of do it in my head, but as sales on Greenmet are almost non existent if a book is a poor seller on Amazon then I wouldn't bother with it on Greenmet either.

Having said that though I sold 2 books on Greenmet yesterday, which is more than i usually sell in a full month.
