I never list anything for 99p on a Free Listing Day I save those for when I have to pay, although have started my prices recently at higher than 99p, I list things at the minimum I want for something as I've been disappointed in the past when things I thought would do well haven't.
Been out all day so haven't done any new listings on Turbolister today but will be working my way through as much as possible tonight when the kids are in bed so might be up very late.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -
Further to a question raised earlier, it seems that ebay are currently charging for bulk relists of 99p items. There are a few threads on the community boards about this, although some people have said they did bulk relist and did not get charged.
However relisting one at a time appears to be uncharged for all private sellers.
Good luck today on the free listing but one word of warning. Be careful how many you list especially if you are planning to use the 100 free listings later in the month as well. More and more people are being forced to upgrade to business purely because of numbers listed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So are they asking people to upgrade to Business accounts just if they list lots of 99p auctions or if they list a load of stuff at any price?
I have quite a few ready for today, lots of second hand clothing my girls have outgrown (got 3 girls so lots of clothes). Why should it matter how many listings you have as a Private seller as long as they are personal items like old clothing and listed for more than 99p.
Surely they expect people to list lots on a Free Listing Day.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -

They are not saying what the criteria is and whatever it is it is not being rolled out 'fairly' (although of course ebay is not fair). A number of people who have spoken to me have been caught as they were patently businesses, selling lots of different sizes of clothes and stuff all obviously from car boot or charity shop sales. However a number appear to be genuine private sellers, lots of their own stuff and all reasonable to assume it could be from the same person. There does not appear to be any way of appeal either. Someone yesterday on the community boards said that ebay review the numbers listed and relisted on a 3 month average, so anything over 200 in 3 months might be a problem, but then a quick look at ebay today shows that cannot be the case as there are private sellers with much more than that.
There was a thread only this morning on ebay from someone moaning about now being a business. However she was gettig very little sympathy as although lots of her items could be arguably 'private' (lots of knitting patterns for example) she was also listing new shoes in more than one size and several over a month.
A while ago someone suggeste dit could be the number of relists that trigger the upgrade, and that might fit with the current issue that relists appear to be chargeable. However, once again there ae huge numbers of private sellers who constantly relist the same stuff and have not been upgraded.
There was even a conspiracy theory that this free listing day was designed entirely to catch out private sellers who might be tempted to really go for it, but I doubt ebay are that organised!
I must say though that I am always looking over my shoulder waiting for the dreaded email, I take each day I can list on my private account as a bonus now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin.
I am only going to relist a few things and the rest are new listings, mainly clothing and a few old shoes. Selling my daughters toddler duvet and pillow and also have her toddler bed to get listed plus a dress from Per Una that I bought for my brothers wedding last year that I won't wear again.
Ebay seems to be wanting everything to be Business Sellers, of course people have lots of second hand items to sell, stuff that doesn't fit for example, someone could have been a size 18 and had a load of clothes and then gone down to an 16 so had lots of clothes in that size and then might have gone down to a 14 so obviously will have lots of different sizes if they don't list very often. Why do they have free listing days if they don't like how much stuff people list, obviously everyone is going to list lots on a free listing day because it's free and you don't get much for free these days.
Ebay is definitely going down hill, it used to be so great when I first started using it in 2002 it was fun to look around, find something you really wanted and then have a bidding war or winning by auction sniping, now you can pick up stuff very cheaply as there is so much stuff on.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -
I have clothes of mine in 5 or 6 different sizes, all mine, all bought over about 3-4 years. Due to meds & illness my weight has varied loads. I've been reluctant to sell them as I was hoping that once everything had settled down I may go back down a few sizes again. I don't think that's going to happen but I really don't want to put on business account as they weren't bought to sell on. Maybe I'd be better selling just one size on ebay.
It's all too much worry really, maybe I'll just stick them in a charity shop.
I've just checked out a private seller on goofbay, they have sold over £5k in 90 days. Guess they must have bought & inherited lots of lovely stuff, all antiques, mainly starting at 99p.0 -
