sorry have i missed something major here... what is this 100 items for 99p limit thing about?

Here's a link Soolin posted earlier about it http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201004301245132.html

basically now private sellers can only list 100 items for free at 99p, any more and you get charged.

Welcome Ashamed; it's never too late to join our challenge!

So does anybody know how to find out if you have hit 100 99p listings - do you get an email from eBay or do you just notice on your invoice?

You just get charged when listing, so if listing direct onto ebay it will show that there are fees to pay.

However, I would be careful about getting tio close to the 100 free listings, more and more people are getting the dreaded 'you need to upgrade to business account' email based on volume listed.

  • Thanks Soolin- I tried again this morning and it did the same but if I relist each item individually it worked woohoo!!!

The 100 free listing rule is a bummer as I normally keep listing the same stuff a few times and have been quite lucky with sales. Oh well what can you do!!

Right I best get a move on- got a few books I have just finished so going to list them on amazon

    Have a good day everyone!

sorry to ask some boring questions... but so then only 100 items at 99p can be added each month? or else you get charged? what about relisting? are these free? or classed as new items? on a free listing day then can you list as many things as you want .. .no charge?

thanks if you can answer these! im listing today like a crazy person!

ok someone correct me if i'm wrong....

you get 100 listings per month free at 99p after that you get charged
relists count towards the 100 total
if you list 99p items during the free listings this is put towards the 100 limit and after the 101st listing you will get charged (even during the free listing day) Items listed over 99p are free as usual (cant see anything about there being a limit on how many you can list)

at least that's my understanding of it

I'm not quite sure why you say that? You have a business account as well if I remember rightly and on that you pay to list everything so people using private accounts could outsell you and undercut you by chancing starting their listings at 99p. At least with the cap on private listings it means us business sellers stand a chance of getting our stuff seen.

I do use both a business account and a private account, 1200 free 99p listings a year on my private account seems quite generous as eventually everyone must run out of their own personal stuff to sell. Compare that to my business account where i pay to list everything and as the book market is completely flooded with all sorts of tat being constantly relisted my books barely ever get a look in, so i pay and it gets lost in thousands of copies of Danielle Steele or whatever.

Actually what is more worrying is the announcement that volumes of listings will be looked at with sellers being asked to upgrade to business and give up their private accounts. I am getting large numbers of people contacting me already about that, and there are always several current threads on the ebay forum from people saying they have been told they must upgrade. I certainly would sugegst to people that they are very careful about using the 100 free listings every month
