If you consider the effect of benefit fraud on the everyday man, which most of us don't, then you would report anybody you knew was committing it. It really has a very detrimental impact on us and those who really need the benefits. Quiet rant over :o

Anyway ladies, good day today although I had forgotten how long it takes to list items when you have to locate all the parts, then clean them, then get to listing and photographing. Currently up to 29 listings; am just going to have a tea break and then start on the next box. Have already sorted out another 28 items to list tomorrow and hopefully I can add to that but am struggling with so many missing bits of toys.

I have also come across another problem - I'm moving the listed items into DS3s bedroom so now I have eBay room - full of junk that needs to be listed by Friday, living room - full of boxes that need listing, my bedroom - now covered in clothes that need sorting and listing, DS1/2s room - full of packaging and DS3s room - items that are listed.

Where do you put all of your stuff? I'm almost tempted to open the loft and throw some stuff up there that needs sorting out but can be done later...

And one last thing, have you seen the eBay message from yesterday about limiting 99p sales for private buyers and then a more worrying one about looking at higher volume private sellers to see whether to move them to business sellers or ban them?

Not that I have anything to worry about as I am far too rubbish to have too many listings :rotfl:

    Hi Floxxie

I saw the message on the Announcement boards yesterday, I'm not selling as much on my Personal account now, was selling my old comics to generate a bit of cash but haven't sold any this last time and am keeping them now so that reduces my stuff quite a lot as I had about 60 of them. I'm just going to be adding things that I think might get more than one bid, I'm sick of relisting the same stuff so will just sort it out when the listings end and take to the charity shop, it's an RSPCA one so would rather take the stuff there, I tend to give to animal charities since our dog died in Sept 06, I also give to Dogs Trust every month but only the minimum at the moment until my debt is gone.

As for the Ebay stuff, the kids built in wardrobe is mainly my Ebay Business clothing, also my side of the wardrobe, I have lots of plastic boxes under our kingsize bed which is where I put the stuff I have listed, two small boxes under the kids bed although don't have much in those only a few things. OH keeps saying I should put it all down the Annex but it's chocoblok with stuff, plus doesn't have heating, plus has mice (keep seeing mice droppings in there so not a good place to keep stuff.

Lol TMD, I was reading your message thinking wow she must have a really large wardrobe and bed and then of course you mentioned the annexe - I'd forgotten about that! Which then reminded me, I've forgotten about the garage.

I wonder how much stuff is too much on a persoanl account; I guess the only way to find out is to list but I have thousands of items which I need to convert to cash quick. Only one way to find out I guess...and that is to list! :rotfl:

Details on the restrictions on listings for private sellers here:

    http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201004011436132.html
Lots of discussion on the community boards and lots of unhappy private sellers who see an end to their infinte free listings and relists. For business sellers though this redresses the balance a bit as it means less 99p items being listed to get in the way of our business goods.

Sounds like me, except I don't really have toys now, only soft toys & the odd thing that I picked up at car boots for when I used to look after a friends baby. I could easily have 1000 items on at a time if I got round to listing them, that would last me for a couple of years, as I've been so many sizes in the past few years due to meds etc it probably would look as if I was a business seller. It would though be all mine & my Mums, she never tries on clothes in the shop & never takes back anything that doesn't fit, so keeps saying that she must turf out all of it & give to me to list on ebay. I also have 2 aunts who give me stuff to sell, would that class me as a business, it's stuff that they would have given to charity shops? My books would take another few years to sell probably.
Then the boxes of old pretty china that I swap around on the dresser. I may not live long enough to sell everything.

That sounds like me hermum; it's a nightmare having so much stuff and yet not having the time and energy to list it

That's interesting Soolin as I read it as a private seller who has high volumes, regardless of how many 99p listings they have. If it is not that, then it won't affect me a I rarely use 99p starting prices.

People are reading it differently and the pinks seem loath to explain. I also read it that you get 100 free 99p listings a month but can then list more as long as you pay. However a number of people seem to be reading that it is 100 items a month in total and after that your account may be reviewed and you might be asked to upgrade to business.

I guess we'll have to wait for the usual unhelpful ebay guidance.

I read it as under 25 feedbacks 100 listings at any 1 time whether free or paid. From this week.
From June all private sellers will be allowed 100 free 99p start listings a month, you can have more but pay an insertion fee.
Any high volume sellers can be reviewed & upgraded to business acct if ebay deem you a business seller.
I wonder how many different I read it as, we can get by the end of the day.
Hopefully they will ebay, will sort out the like of jaynemarias friend of a friend. A couple of quid is one thing that is ridiculous.
How much does somebody have to earn before they pay higher rate tax?

Over £37,400 but you also have your personal allowance rate that can be earned before tax - it is £6475 (but may be higher if you are older or lower if you have company cars etc).

It is the second part that riases questions for me - it does not state 'any private seller listing 99p items in high volumes will be reviewed' but a seller 'listing in high volumes'

    • From this week private sellers with a feedback score of less than 25, will be automatically limited to 100 live listings/total quantity at any point in time on ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie.
    • Any private seller listing in high volumes will be reviewed by Customer Support , and potentially required to upgrade to business status or be blocked from listing on ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie.
