  • Good morning everyone!

I went to the Delivery Office this morning to collect the parcel that I had to pay £2.08 for, and I was right, it was the swim suit that had been returned and the buyer had not paid any postage on it. Am quite annoyed to be honest as it has cost me £2.08 (£1.08 for a parcel, it would have gone as a Large Letter if folded the right way, plus £1 handling charge). To be honest there was nothing wrong with the item it just didn't fit so I shouldn't have to pay for return postage, this is why I was asking about Returns Policies the other day, I have since changed my Returns Policy to say that if I item does not fit or they change their mind I will only refund the cost of the item not postage.

It also cost me petrol to get to the sorting office and my time so don't see why they should get it all back. To be honest I have over 4,300 feedback so a neg would not really hurt and it's the principle of it.

Can I join please? I need to start ebaying again - partly to help with the decluttering :o

I've got a little ebay box atm - I need to just get on and ebay I know and so hope this thread will help motivate me. I also can sell through work as we have an online ads thing and through Amazon/Green Met too so every little helps ;)

This year so far (excluding cosmetics as I'm selling them but using the money to buy things I really need as part of the cosmetics challenge) I've sold:

    3 birdfeeders through work - £12

    Need to get going!

    Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98

I wouldnt refund, if you dont mind risking a neg.
Why should you be out of pocket? What they did, posting the item back to you without paying for postage is just not on.

  • Thanks Mavvysmum

I got an e-mail this afternoon asking me if I had received it back, I e-mailed back to say that I had to collect it today from the Sorting Office as it had no postage on it and that it had cost me £1 handling fee plus original postage. I refunded their money as my Returns Policy didn't say I wouldn't refund postage so I had to refund being a Business seller, but I have changed my Returns Policy to state that the buyer pays return postage unless it is faulty.

It was only £5.83 I had to refund (not including the Paypal fee refund part of it), and at least I can resell it.

I have also disenabled the Ebay Returns Procedure to use my own Returns thing (can't remember what it's called now but it was in Site Preferences).

managed a good day of sales today £137.00 but now the task l hate the packaging.
lf l have a return l don't refund postage just the item value which as l offer free postage isn't an issue - they send back at their cost. l've also come to the conclusion that these days with the feedback system l will get a negative at some point so l therefore only leave feedback once it has been left for me to give me some chance in putting my point accross.
