I appreciate ur point but surely there is some sort of 'false advertising' laws around to prevent this? I work for B&Q and we can be fined £5000 per item that is incorrectly priced...does this not apply to everyone else?

The fines are something of an empty threat and they only really apply when your advertised pricing policy is deliberately set out to deceive the consumer. You won't be fined or reprimanded for mistakes and "typos", which is clearly the case here.

This, although it doesn't apply to pricing errors specifically, should clear things up: Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots Cash Chemists (Southern) Ltd [1953]. The display of goods, with a price displayed, is simply an invitation to treat. It is not an offer of contract and the invitation can be withdrawn at any point.

I diid a Law 'A' level many years ago andif i remember right, when shops advertise something they are not offering itfor sale but it's 'an invitation to treat' when you go in as the customer it is you that offers to buy it, and they can either accept or refuse your offer.

Sounds like it was a genuine mistake made by Argos, which they have no corrected. Not really false advertising, so doesn't really warrant a complaint.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • You can complain all you like but unfortunately it wont get you very far they rarely honour mistake prices

I think I'm still going to complain 2moro, the young assistant store manager that spoke to me today enjoyed making me feel like an idiot, he almost laughed at me and said ''surely u must have realised it was a mistake?''....not a nice chappy!

you can't fault the guy for calling a spade a spade...
