Today in other news OH has just asked me to remind him to put his swimming costume in his bag:eek::eek::eek: visions a la borat and mankini sprung to mind!!! :rotfl:
We thought he looked very fetching in it at the pool party while you were away Hypno, didn't we girlsDeeDeeinDooDoo wrote: »Hypno,
Now, I do have a slight problem, we have a nice spare bed and chest of drawers but no wardrobe. So I either let them have mine until I can afford to get another one. I probably need to get a few other bits and pieces if we are going for 'homely' and will need to have the heating on a bit more.
What did you do initially? Must be worth it in the long run?
If you have room for a wardrobe could you bung a request on freecycle? I'd be cheeky & say what kind I wanted, e.g. pine, but say it was to finish a room cos I was broke & looking for a lodger (but I have no pride)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

shaun, yes a good result.......not the most exciting match, but a win is a win (even if it was perishingly cold)........and we will settle for the 3 points :T
Now I need to warm up again.........am freezing!
se, yes, I am very happy for my two to travel on their own......so many of their friends from school don't even know how to read a bus timetable, so I am teaching mine valuable independent living skills for which they have already thanked me. DS is armed with an emergency debit card in case.....but he has never had to use it in the past, and is under strict instructions that extra haribo from Super U is not an emergency
Schooling is good - they ski in the morning, then have lunch and do 3 hours school in the afternoon......ski all day friday, no school......day off to do whatever they want on Saturday, and then school all day sunday.....evenings will be fitness or social stuff. It works out at 1 tutor for 6 children, and they seem to storm through their work because of the small groups, and generally have to ask for more to be emailed over from the school - I cannot fault the tutoring there and would not let them have so much time away if they were going to come back struggling to catch up.......it is all good......and obviously all hard work and no fun for the children whatsoever
Deedee - it depends if you are having mainly boys or girls - boys don't use a wardrobe, instead they want to live out of their suitcase/shoved in the drawers/thrown on the floor......
girls are also happy enough to have a chest of drawers - and perhaps in the short term just one of those "over door" hook sets - with 6 hooks so they can hang up their few "must hang" items.....don't fret if you have no wardrobe, honestly!
Homely is what they are after, so more importantly is a bit of humour, a decent meal, and interest in what they have been doing during the day etc. In all honesty, even when we have put students into the "box room", they still say it is bigger then they have at home, quite often! Many of the French students, for example live in apartments in Paris where the rooms are tiny or they have to share with siblings, so they are quite happy here!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I didn't feel the cold while I was there - I wore plenty of layers, extra socks, proper boots, hat, gloves, scarf etc......but while I was waiting for the bus to come home, I just got colder and colder.......got home at about 6 and am still frozen right through - hopefully dinner will warm me up, otherwise I will head into the bath at an appropriate moment to see if I can re-heat that way!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hope you manage to thaw out soon.
Glad to hear that Ds landed safe and sound and with that £198 I'm sure you'll work wonders.0 -
Well, it will be wonderful pasta combinations, taxi, but I will ensure we don't starve
Like I say, there are times in the past when I would have dreamed about having £198 to last 3 weeks!!
Am now making a hot water bottle......then will grab a fleecy blanket and snuggle up on the sofa to watch telly......
Pania, yes you are right - standing at a bus stop doesn't usually get my heart racing!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

If you can't do that sort of thing on a Saturday evening when there is snow outside, then when CAN you do it!
