I've told DD that beyond A levels there is no need to be deciding on careers just yet - when she is at 6th Forms, they will give lots of input on uni etc so it will all fall into place when the time is right - she is down to do some good A levels, so that is the main thing.
And I think the hotel school will soon whip DS into shape as far as clearing up after himself is concerned! I have told him that he won't be allowed to leave empty wrappers and dirty pots on the workbench there!

Just thought for uni's and colleges is DS looking outside the UK for later on, not sure how the funding works, but there are probably ski and tourism/hospitality courses in Scotland and there must be them elsewhere. Not sure about the funding though.
Do google the Erasmus Programme, we did look into it for our two, but not what they wanted. It has a different name now, but Erasmus get's you the links easier, the new EU name is "The Lifelong Learning Programme 2007–2013 was established by Decision No.1720/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 November 2006".0 -
Have found it, se....thank you - I will have a look!
DS is still only 14.....I am sure plenty of funding issues will bring themselves to the fore by the time he gets to Uni, or whatever!! But he does have a definite idea of what he wants to do. He has wanted to cook for many years!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. With my two, one is going the pure academic route, the other although getting a degree is still getting his main leads through contacts and what were his hobbies, and to a large extent currently the degree seems irrelevant, although we and hopefully he sees it as an insurance policy for later. They're still both just starting out, one doing a PG and the other in first post uni job, but both happy. Both are boys, so not the male/female stereotype divide, just they're completely different individuals.0

Hi everyone!
Good news about the beds Hypno and new sheets too - what bliss!
Hope that aids a restful night tonight0 -
Oh, so do I hope for a good nights sleep, macgirl!!
se - in some ways my two are very very similar.....in other ways they are quite different young people! They are only 15 months apart in age, so are very close, but I quite see them doing very very different things in life.
I will still be on MSE, doing scratchcards to help fund their uni fees, no doubt, so I will be able to keep you updated :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Mine are 18 months apart, so close too. The good thing was nappies and pushchairs were out of the way quickly, but the intensive doses of GCSE's and A levels and Uni exams was a constant pressure for too many years on them and us. I hate how they brought in the AS levels, also the GCSE coursework, it gives no breaks for them at all.0 -
