:hello:Morning all .
Can any of you lovelies recommend anything herbal to pick you up when you are feeling, low and basically overwhelmed (sp?) ? I swear By "bach rescue remedy " when I am nervous but have not tried any of the other flower remedies.
Sorry for thread hijack Hypno but as you get a lot of through traffic someone may be able to help me:(
Hope you are ok, sweetie.
Love

Hi 40SM
I'm no expert, but St. John's wort is supposed to be a natural anti-depressant. I've never taken it and I think there may have been some controversy over it too.......
Personally I find the no:1 best - and most natural, pick-me-up is exercise.
Hands down. Running outside (or even a brisk walk if that's too much) blows away the cobwebs like nothing else and always clears my mind and puts everything into perspective. Not only that but it gives me a buzz of the rest of the day. My DH always comments that I am calmer when I'm exercising regularly.
**Incidentally, my BiL is a Psychiatrist and he takes patients out on camping weekends and gets them doing physically demanding tasks - so there is something in it**
Sorry if that sounds a bit lightweight, but I have suffered with both moderate depression and severe anxiety after the birth of my kids. I didn't go down the drugs route - chemical or natural. I'm not saying it's wrong to take anything - each to their own, but it can be overcome without them (IMHO).
The other method I learnt was to find an absorbing hobby, again it sounds lightweight, but if you find something you really enjoy doing (and keep at it - even when you really cannot be bothered) - that could be making something or gardening and give it all you've got - the low mood disappears. It really does work!
Hope you feel better soon0 -

Be careful with that stuff: I can' remember where, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it counteracts the effects of the Pill, so it would be worth looking up before use, especially if you have no intentions of becomng a mummy again! Please call me 'Pickle'

Exercise and hobbies aren't lightweight at all - it just has to be something you like, or will fairly soon come to like - its about the endorphin effect, its pretty well researched. Rescue remedy is really good in itself, but getting something sustainable into your life is even better! Lots of hugs, 40SM.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Morning H, big hugs to everyone that needs them today. I went to SW for weigh in and have lost 1.5 lbs so pleased with that...this morning I have been for an 8 mile run and now my legs are throbbing away. Hypno I can't ever imagined that we ran 26 miles....
Off to do my scratches, need to get into MB to raise some money too...its all so confusing thoughI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done on the run and the weigh in - I will endeavour to get my backside jogging round the block at some point over the weekend.......some way short of 8 miles, though, and a lifetime away from 26
40SM - I use Valerian root - usually available on 3 for 2 from Boots - there is a daytime and a night time version. Night time makes no difference to my sleeping, so I stick with the day time one.
Who knows if it is actually making any real difference, but even just the thought process of "feeling better" as you take them can convince yourself that you really are feeling better - more mind games.....never under estimate the power of the placebo effect!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Hypno, i am a big fan of your diary but never really post. I just wanted to say i am thinking of you and your family at this time. At difficult times like this i think the weekends are always harder as we have more time to think and less structure to our day. When my dad died i always hated fridays because it was the start of the weekend and that is when i used to see him, mon-fri when i was working i could pretend i was ok. Hope the sleep has improved for you. Massive hugs hypno.XoCredit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

Thank you WABL. Isn't it strange how we long for weekends to arrive sometimes, then when we do, we find them the hardest times!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
