Good luck with the food hunting - I hope that you don't discover that everything closes down for 4 days at New Year!!!

I am currently writing two lists - one a meal plan based on the cupboards/freezer/minimal grocery shopping, and one of all the good things that happened in 2009.......making sure I don't forget that it is not all doom and gloom, and that our hard work and effort is paying off.

Oh, and it is snowing thick and fast now.....

It's bank holidays until Monday, but there's a small supermarket at the railway station which is supposedly open. We won't starve as OH did a small shop of dried/tins when working here before Christmas and left it at the hotel, so it's basically getting some fresh things to make it more edible.

Good luck with your store cupboard challenge, I had to do that before we left and it worked well, I've also been doing a cosmetics/toiletries/cleaning products one, it's amazing what you find in the back of drawers and cupboards :o

Hope you find lots of nice things on your 2009 list. The holiday, the kids skiing, your bonus and getting through the £20K are definitely things to be happy and proud of

The "good" list makes nice reading, really - it is easy to forget the good bits amongst all the hassles and stresses of life, so is necessary once in a while to remind ourselves of the positives.

    It includes things like:

DD to China, DS to Norway, money in place for 2010 skiing, 1 family holiday, 2 ski trips - all without having to borrow any money to fund.

Went to see Take That at Wembley - had a fab time, paid for with Mystery shopping money!

Ran the London Marathon and raised over £4k for Mencap, as well as completing the course 3 whole minutes faster than I did when I was aged 20! Had a lovely weekend in London with the family as well - again without increasing the debt.

Reduced our debt by over £20k, have now got charges at a minimum, and been able to move credit to low APRs after many years of being stuck with high interest rates.

DD and DS both work hard, and are able to buy themselves what they want with their own wages - learning the benefits of getting out there and earning money.

Excellent ski results, and general all round good sportsmanship from both children. Very proud of them.

OH & I both stayed employed - no mean feat, given the economy, and my income increased enought to offset the drops in OH's income, so we are no worse off, and we are very grateful for that.

The garden will be much easier to look after this year, and the house is a lot less embarrassing than it was at the start of the year........definitely work in progress, but getting there!

So, not so bad, and a good way to start planning 2010, I reckon!

Wow Hypno - you achieved so much positivie stuff in 2009 - bring on 2010. Happy New Year btw.

I still have a household of 18-20 yr olds - the house looks like a bomb site and the only place I can hole up is in the kitchen or my bedroom!!!

Can't get motivated to do accounts at moment - I will put that off until tomorrow, when I have the house to myself and so can think clearly.

No snow here at moment but it did snow whilst we walked home last night - but ony a smattering.

    Have a good day

The snow has stopped already here and the sun is shining. Very slippy outside though....

I have managed to get several meals planned from my storecupboard, and a few more than need minimum spending from the supermarket to complete, so that's a good start. I hope to get through January without spending masses at the supermarkets, along with most MSE people, I guess......I quite like this first couple of weeks where we all try and make everything stretch just that little bit further!

    Happy new year everyone.

I'm just off to have coffee with some friends at a friends house and then to my sisters for lunch. How spoilt is that.

Tomorrow I am going to sign up for flylady and after recieving his book for Christmas I am going to ruthlessly Gok my wardrobe.

    Have a good day
