Spud, thanks for that, don't know whether to shout, scream, or :mad::mad::mad::mad:
having posted on the site that I found out about this deal (HUKD)
someone else has just advised of what the beeps could be, it sounds more serious now, than originally mentioned earlier
according to the manual there are different reasons for different number of beeps, my problem now though is the manual only goes up to 7 beeps, I reckon mine is around 7+
looks like I'm phoning dell tomorrow:mad::mad::mad:0 -
Just wondered if there could be something in the advanced options that would be of help.

Scottishf, thanks, but looking at the post 21 from spud17
things have taken a turn for the worst, looks like there's something seriously wrong with my new 3 day old laptop :mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

in case you've misread this thread my laptop is Bleeping 6/7/8+ times prior to starting up
I have now found out, according to the owner manual that bleeps prior to start up are serious malfunctions, as for mine 6/7/8+ (its hard to tell exactly how many bleeps) its looks like my 3 day old lap top is knackered :mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

Small comfort, but I'd rather have something go wrong 3 days in, against 11 months down the line.
I hope you noticed that the Dell forum concerns the Studio rather than your model, but it all seems a bit coincidental.
A long shot, but have you tried re-seatting the RAM.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

care to explain, how to do this please, not sure about fiddling with it as its so new and I’m not 100% confident, if I just have to undo something and replace etc then fine
as for your other comment thanks for that
however FYI the laptop originally came as Vista premium with a free upgrade to windows 7
now during the first 24-36 hours I used the laptop and performed a number of updates (as advised on a separate forum) including the BIOS, it worked fine
the problems (the bleeping etc) only started after installing the upgrade disc, which for the record as did as instructed
any more comments/advice would be appreciated
before I go into battle with CPW0
