Thanks Swinstie - I have friend who has lost loads with Scottish Slimmers too! I think WW is the English version???

Still not sure if paying for it would help to motivate me??? I know what I need to do - it's just doing it that I can't seem to manage at the moment :o

That's the thing, you need to do it for yourself! The girl I work with is dieting, sits and eats fruits (at least 10 pieces) everyday and of course the minute I eat a chocolate I get criticised by everyone, it makes me say sod it, I'll eat what the heck I want when I want. I need to lose a few pounds BUT am generally happy (as long as I don't put anymore on), I will lose some weight and if I don't it's only myself who suffers. Don't try to lose weight to not feel frumpy at some stupid trendy bar, do it because you know you can be even more F_Fabulous than you are. I always think, skinniness = wrinkles later in life :D

You are right - but I reallly do want to do it  I actually feel really miserable about it most of the time :(

Problem is I've let it go on too long and now I need to lose more than 2 stone :o It just seems like to big a task at the moment, not sure how to tackle it :(

Ive done SS too in the past.Need to go back or do something but thats by the by.Best advice is dont think of it being two stone or whatever.Break it down into wee chunks ~ maybe half a stone~ & reward yourself with something at each milestone.HTH.

    Right my lovely,

I agree with Beanie that small chunks is much easier. If you enjoy meeting new people with similar goals & prefer to work as part of a team then maybe a slimming club of some kind would work for you. It wouldnt work for me & although I have tried almost every type of diet going, I get bored bored bored with them.

I'm sticking to losing 5lbs each month & achieved this in January. I'm just trying to eat less & drink more ( no, not alcohol ;)) to fill me up. So far I've only lost 1lb this month :o so really need to get my act together & if I would just exercise then it would fall off much more easily.

    You can do it :A

Shoe Gal, beanie is right, you need to break it down into chunks. I have another 20lbs to my target and then another 10 to my real target and it is too much to deal with in one go.:(

I think you should set yourself an achievable target eg lose 5lbs by the end of March, and only think about those 5lbs. Small targets mean you achieve them regularly and it spurs you on. Ignore the big picture. If you set yourself a target of 4lb a month it would be done in a few months. :)

Just read back and I sound really self-pitying - sorry :o

Anyway, time to calm down and make a plan!

I am not joining anything, WeightWatchers, a gym etc at the moment. I think I need to take control and not think that throwing money at the situation will be the solution

I am going to eat less! Hardly radical I know but I simply eat too much, have to many 'treats' etc so I will cut that out. I have huge piles of magazines :o full of diets, healthy eating advice, recipes etc so time for a re-read I think. I basically know what I need to do, will aim for 1250-1400 calories a day and keep track of everything I eat

I am going to exercise 3 timea a week. I have exercise DVD's and will also try a couple of classes, pay-as-you-go rather than a memebership

I have set a target of 8lbs loss - to take me to 11st 7lb. WHEN I have done this I will aim to lose another half a stone

I will look after myself - vitamins, sunbed (sorry :o), pampering and loads of sleep

In the words of Lula 'I am F Fabulous' and L'Oreal 'because I'm worth it' :)

Have a couple of quiet weeks socially, then a friends birthday on 27th, so I am going to focus on this for the next 2 weeks - and then have a fabulous night out (not feeling fat or frumpy :))
