Home Plugs HELP!

Hi
Just taken delivery of my Solwise home plugs x 4.
Plugged 1 into my router and the 3rd light is flashing merrily, implying data is transferring fine.
Plug 2 - bedroom 1 - daughter 1's Xbox360 is now live and watching SKY Movies. Can't be sure that this is because of the home plug because she hasn't been on Xbox live until now. Still, all good.
Plug 3 - bedroom 2 - daughter 2's netbook is showing no change for wireless signal - 1 bar and LOW, same as before.
I have plugged plug 1 into a random ethernet socket on my router, there are 4 to choose from but I didn't think this would make any difference which one I use.
Any ideas for bedroom 2? Many thanks in advance.

was they purchased as a pack of 4 or as seperate ones?
although i do not use them i have been looking at them due to bad wireless in our house (big thick walls) and have found some people saying you have to configure extra ones over and above the 'matched pair' you usualy buyDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I bought 2 packs of 2.
I could test this theory by plugging plug 4 into the router, it should (hopefully) be configured to the plug in bedroom 1.
I'll try this and report back.
Need to find out how to do the configure thingy.0 -
i would suggest google the adaptors or google the company to go to their website, i would hope there would be instructions to be found somewhere on the web...Drop a brand challenge

??
There wont be any change in wireless signal as you now wont be using wireless - its a hard wired connection??
Ignore what the little wireless bar is saying, is the connection otherwise working?0 -
To use the Home Plug, the netbook needs to be connected to it by cable (unless you bought one of their wireless extender plugs, but sounds like you just have the standard ones).
All the plugs do is route the ethernet connection from your router (any port is ok) through the mains wiring - you then connect by wire from each plug to each computer.0 -

I'm confused. You're not using the wireless connection anymore, you're using a wired ethernet connection, through your mains circuit. The internet connection on the netbook needs to be configured so it uses ethernet/wired not the wirelss network.
EDIT - I see I wasn't the only one to spot that!!??

Yip, wireless readout is bogus, silly me, thx for those who spotted this. You are all correct, all connections are via ethernet cable.
BUT - by adding a 2nd plug into the router, I've now broken the SKY connction on the Xbox, daughter 1 angry.
All plugs recognise each other (2nd light) but data transfer (3rd light) isn't flickering too much in all cases.
So i'm now testing all connections via laptop Powerpacket software - Laptop plug can only see router and ignores Xbox + Laptop.

Sorry Espresso - they don't have to be in pairs - I have one connected to my router , and three others around the house all working quite happily.0
-
Getting there, slowly.

I can now watch online footy (just testing!!) in both bedrooms and when I unplug the ethernet, screen freezes in both cases. So far, so good.
But - we can no longer go online on the Xbox - despite being able to watch Skyplayer earlier on using the same home plug? Home plug data transfer light doesn't seem to flash nearly as fast as it does when watching internet footy.
Any thoughts? Many thx.0 -
Just to reiterate what's already been said... although the plugs are sold in pairs, they do not operate in pairs. Just connect ONE of the plugs to the router, no more.
You can then connect the other 3 plugs into separate PCs.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0
