Yeah those are all HSBC branches, sorry i didn't clarify cos it started off as HSBC machines at the beginning of the thread.

Also the Portsmouth Natwest branch refers to big one in Commercial road in the city centre.

I enclsoe below a copy of the e-mail I received some time ago from HSBC Customer Service on how to use the Coin Deposit Machines:


Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding our coin deposit machines. I can confirm that in order to use the machine you will need to insert your HSBC debit card of the account you wish to credit then deposit your coins into the chute.

There is not need to bag up the coins as the machine automatically counts them for you. I would however request that if you have a lot of coins, you deposit them gradually as excessive amounts at the same time can cause the machine to jam and freeze.

I save mine up and then pour it all into the self service tills at my local Tesco. Just go early or late in the day!!!

I've just stumbled upon this thread, so can I ask a question please?

Firstly, I didn't know these excisted, hence my question, I've always taken coins to Coin Star Machines, and paid the fee, assuming the only other way was to bag them up and end up being a few coins short on all the bags, thus not being able to pay them in.

So, If I take my coins to a machine at HSBC, do I get a receipt which I then take to the cashier who gives me the money. In the same way as the Coin Star works.

I don't bank with HSBC so can't pay the cash in.
