That is one of my worries. When I cried I told him I need a local community more than he appears to, and I could not face moving regularly. I said if I did this one, I would not want to do it again in a few years. He said he accepts that and if I really don't want to move then we won't. He has decided he does not like this house and that as his friends no longer live here he would like to be near them.
We've lived in this town for around 10yrs - rented the same property for most of them and owned this house 4yrs. I think it was a total bolt from the blue for me. I knew we no longer had many friends here, and that we needed to make more effort to get into local activities to find new ones, but I didn't expect to move as a solution!
Thanks so much for letting me get this off my chest and think it through.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

Well done elfen, have you set up lots of support and got all the various quit packs to give you the best chance of success?
Get a cheap sealed saving tin from Home Bargains or a pound shop to collect what would have been cig money!

EDIT: and try not to replace cigs with sweets, not uncommon to find people who need more dental work doing because of this!

Do you have friends and family in the area that he's looking at moving to where his frinds are?
the bit in red - that's fine as long as he then doesn't resent you for preventing what he thinks would be a move back to happiness.

Good luck elfen :j Get it spud, its not exactly expensive, plus you could always ebay it if needed

I am sat here virtually spending hundreds on printed t-shirts on ebay. Last time I droped a size I decided I would deal with problem and start buying low cut tops. Well I did it twice and now cant face it so all the tops I have now dont fit (thank heavens)and are going to charity/friends. So I am free to buy t-shirts again :j Just because I have lost weight deosnt mean I have to change who I am, right? You can't take the tomboy out of Pap, well not quite yet :rotfl:0 -
Thanks angelflower. I'm talking of 45mins-1hr away down the motorway and main roads. I have a 30 min drive across town to the beautician so suddenly a trip there would become at least 1hr 15 mins each way. The six to twelve months is to save up the money for the moving expenses etc (We are on the cusp of becoming debt free). So in six months we decide if it is on, then the next six months is planning etc. I feel in my heart if he is unhappy then I must move.
Linda - One of the friends in that town is a mutual friend. We know people in the mutual friend's social circle but only at the level of seeing them at meals out/parties etc. I had no friends here when we came here and I didn't want to come originally, but I accepted the need to move to where work is, and as my OH wanted to be here I was willing to try. My OH has a fairly small circle of friends, most of them all over the country and only a few locally. I've said I'll consider the move but would like us to take something up locally here, as we are here for at least a year, something like joining a sports club. That way we can make some more friends and enjoy ourselves more for the next year, and I know we are more likely to make a life for ourselves, not just keep the same friends and risk a repeat of this afternoon's tears.Debt at highest: £8k. Grr, the £5 napster quidco has been declined, what's the point of having a promotion if you don't honour it.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Oh, and in response to him really not moving. I think he would stay but he said his concern is he would increasingly spend time in the other town with his friends, so not see as much of me. I would also struggle with him being unhappy, as he has told me he is not happy here and is lonely.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0
