Afternoon, I'm back from my meeting and I've signed up for loads of activities, including swimming, eek. I'm only going to go for about 10 mins every fortnight, but I'm a bit worried because I love it and when I get in the water I don't want to get out, and end up overdoing it. So I'll have to be really strict with myself. Then nipped into town and got a couple of makeup bits in the Boots sale with my points, and loads of change bags from the bank. So tomorrow I can get it all paid in and then get my Euros - I don't think tesco exchange would appreciate me turning up and emptying my piggy bank on their desk! I also wanted to get a little white board from Wilkinsons to help my organisation resolution, but they only had big ones. So I'm going to improvise and use a piece of paper inside a plastic wallet thing, it should work just as well. Got to go back out in about 20 mins for my blood test.

Lou, I don't think £30 is too bad, a couple of years I had my handbag stolen with my keys and had to have my car towed out of town to get the locks changed and the recovery part was I think £90.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Thanks Linda, thanks very much to you and everyone for "listening" to me. I appreciate you picking up on my mini "waaaa".

    * I like my garden - it attracts birds so I worry what if there aren't any/as many? It has big trees and feels peaceful, not boxed in, despite being on an estate.
    * I like the neighbourson one side - we give their two children christmas presents etc and I was looking forward to being part of their lives as they grew up (we don't have children of our own).
    * We got married in this town so I can go to church where we got married. I would feel sad to leave the church behind.
    * on our estate I have just started to go to the local church. The vicar is lovely and the congregation are really welcoming.
*our estate is very convenient - a library and post office a few mins walk from the house, two supermarkets in a 10 min walk. Bus route is very good too.
*I can cycle to town in the summer
    * we have a fantastic mechanic/garage, I have a fantastic beautician, we've just found a trustworthly gas safe boiler engineer. All these people are very hard to replace.

To answer your real question tho... I just never thought we would leave here. I didn't move as a child, ever. My first move was to uni (where we met). We did move around afterwards, finding work and responding to his desire to live in SE England. Once we'd started to settle in here I started to imagine living here always. I want the sense of community I got from growing up where I knew lots of people, bumped into people I knew out shopping etc.

I told my OH I could not face moving regularly (His family moved every few years) and that I'll give it serious thought. I want him to be happy and his friends don't live here. We moved to this town as he knew people here, and we only bought our current house as we could afford it. I'm hoping I will learn to be as happy in the new town. It is about 45mins drive away.

I know what you mean, moving house, particularly moving areas is a huge upheaval, it literally feels like you're starting all over again from scratch. We did it in 2002 when I was pregnant with our 2nd :(

Does your OH get 'itchy feet' due to the fact that he's been used to moving as a child?

Its just bucketing down with snow! Hopefully it will be tomorrow night, il be cosy in a pub with my gf and her family and lots of our friends, should be a really good night, not been an easy year but 2010 should be amazing!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
  • sorry to hear about your impending move and that its causing you upset. 6 months does still seem a while away and you may indeed find another house better or something that may suit you both. I can empathise with you, I cant imagine moving from my current house either. If its any consolation, 45 mins isnt too far away from all the practical things you mentioned....all my friends live at least 30 mins away, my church is 30 mins away and for some others in our congregation, its an hour! Plumbers, beauticians and the like will more than likely be willing to travel and you could still use the garage. However, I do hear you, its about feeling settled and this has unsettled you...

I fancied the biggest loser game too! Thats the cheapest I have seen it

Man downstairs has gone out without his dog and its been yapping for the last hour....driving me insane

    Oh and .....hello all :)

I lived in my sister's pub for 2 years, every time it snowed we'd be full to bursting within minutes  It was the ultimate dream for some - to be snowed in at the pub.
