I now stay in the TL Heathrow Central for a couple of nights most weeks (on business.) I used to stay a mile or so along the road at a "proper" hotel but times are tight and I had to cut my costs.
I now pay about one-third what I used to. This TL is new-ish, everything seems to work, and I can't really fault it. It "does what it says on the tin" and, for the price, it's great.0 -
I've not found the Travel lodges I've stayed in that bad. They have been clean which is the most important thing. My only gripe with them is that the rooms are too hot most of the time, but I was lucky last time I stayed in one as I had a dodgy window that I was able to open to get some air in. I managed to get locked out on the second night, so I went down to reception and got my card reswipped (or whatever they do) to get back in. In regards to other guests behavour, I believe thats out of TL's control. Also where I stayed (Harrogate town centre) it was very loud and I couldn't sleep well, but I don't blame them, I blame me as I didn't check it's location that well as I was just needing to book in Harrogate. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

We had a road trip with the kids and stayed in 7 different travel lodges starting from the south to blackpool and back down again. All of them were clean enough except the last one BATH central the most expensive of the lot. Dirty, stains, tap not working and worst of all a condom wrapper under the sofa bed! Now i know what probably goes on in some of the hotel rooms but you don't need to see the evidence.
Also not the hotels fault but there were loads of people outside the hotel partying on a thursday night but when you have 2 little ones with you and being 6mths preg it was a tad scary walking past them all to get in the door.
They only put a warning about it being situated above a night club after i had booked it!
We found the best travel lodges and quietest were the motorway ones.
Overall i'd use them again just not the bath one.0 -
Have stayed at about 50 and only met with one problem for which was given a refund for the whole week's stay.0

The best one i`ve ever stayed at was Porthmadog,it had only just opened and was very handy for the town and a great location for touring Snowdonia.
Hoping to get it again in the £9 sale.0 -
Everything the OP is complaining about isn't really to do with the company but their clients - what do you expect to get when you stay at a place aimed at chavs?0

Not my experience. The last time I stayed in a TL ,I was in my room working on a laptop when there was a quick knock on the door, followed by a supervisor immediately opening the door. With her was a man. Seeing me, there was a long pause, she turned to the man and said
"Is this the room?", to which he answered "No". She then shut the door, and by the time I had overcome my surprise, had vanished.
I have often wondered what would have happened had I not been in the room. Having a great deal of work to do before the next day meeting I did not have time to make enquiries. I just never stayed in TL's again.0 -
Something I should share (this applies to virtually all TL's), if you turn the oval shaped catch on the back of the door handle to extra-lock it then keycards do not work, not even staff ones. The only way to then open the door is with the keylock lower down, which nearly all of the staff won't have access to or be aware of, and some newer ones don't even have the keylock.
The York Travelodge I've been to twice, and one time it was dirty, leaking and smelly, but I was able to overlook this just because of the atmosphere the staff made. One particular thing I liked was when the fire alarm was activated at around 10pm at night, an hour later they posted personalised apology letters under the doors of every occupied room. Something they didn't have to do at all but it was very nice all the same.Male.

Had a great time at Durham TL, stayed for 3 nights with no problems at all. Hoping we drop lucky as we have booked three night in February at TL Torrelaguna in Madrid
Having paid for 5 tickets to see Real Madrid as a 40th birthday treat we've had to make savings somewhere - just hope it doesn't ruin the weekend
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
Bipolar for all0
