worst travelodge experience to date

Ah, how I miss Travelodge. The only gripe with your complaint I have (apart from the things such as the mirror etc) is that it could happen at any hotel, anywhere, any class. Apart from that the hotel agreed to move you to a different floor, and called the police in an attempt to remove the trouble makers. The Tolworth hotel is a big one, surely it couldn't have filled the whole place? I know it wouldn't have been a nice night, but I don't see how it's their fault. That seems to sum up my experiences of Travel Lodges.
I expect they will renting rooms by the hour soon, nothing more than knocking shops after a few gallons of lager.
Actually, some of the motorway ones already DO rent by the hour. But, not in the way you think.Male.

hi
having started the vent, its only right to consider your points and address wherever possible.

Not really the hotel's fault if someone is smoking in their room or if someone knocks on your door by mistake?
the hotel is non smoking and so is the room with ??? a fine of £150. More of a concern is how sensitive are the smoke detectors in each room if they cannot detect a large amount of smoking.
the group in question actually knocked on our doors 4 times over the course of the evening as the hotel in their wisdom had allocated couples in the middle of 15 + males

the hotel chose to place us in substandard rooms not just worn but with furniture missing.
the hotel was not full
they state that they called the police ...
they also said that it was not their fault.
this was a vent, and i have vented. it was not the cost of the hotel that made me choose it but the location. I am interested to hear the offical response and i will post it but have no interention of travel lodging again.
Already booked next breaks at Hilton0 -
You can hardly blame the hotel if idiots chose to misbehave.
I`ve stayed at quite a few TL and never had a problem and have always found the staff friendly and helpful.
All those that are griping about TL on this thread and others and saying "they will never stay at TL again", please, please keep to your promise, because that way there`ll be loads of £9 rooms in the next sale on 7th Jan for those that do like TL.0 -
I stayed in the Worthing Seafront TL before Christmas, and it was the worst experience to date because for the first time ever there was no bath just a shower, it was difficult to fill the kettle as the basin was small, the water did not get very hot and the bathroom was freezing. But it cost just £18 for 2 nights and I will certainly carry on taking advantage of the £9, £14 and £19 sales.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I understand the first point, they shouldn't have put you in such a room, but I don't see why you mention the other 3 points?Male.

we did not turn up at midnight stranded and deserate for a room, to be told that the only ones available were in poor repair
someone must have known the room was like that ... i would therefore assume they were at fault for using it for a pre booked stay
the hotel was not full, therefore why use it when other rooms were available ... whose fault certainly not mine.
The no fault comment was in respect of any of the issues not just the problem neighbours.0 -

Ah I see, thanks.
Typically in Travelodges the desk staff will have close to no idea if a room is in a not very good condition, unless it's completely unusable in which case it would be taken off the system temporarily. The cleaners would notice the missing furniture problems and the housekeeping department would sort this with maintenance, but it seems they didn't think it was major enough to prevent letting of the room. So to the reception team, it would have been just another room. Not right I know, but, yeah.Male.

I would rather pay Travelodge £29 for a c**p room than pay Hilton (or similar) £150 for a "luxury" c**p room !
Have got one near Gatwick in a few weeks for £12 - no fuel surcharges either ! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Have you seen the Gatwick TL on Tripadvisor? It seems to be a right hit with the guests...:eek: Saying that, it is one of the branches that was partly refurbished. Although those old bottle openers are still there!
Sorry to worry you, hope it's ok and congrats on the cheap rate! :beer:Male.
