Dishwasher under a sink- is it possible?

It sounds like there is pipework where the dishwasher should be going and this would cause a problem .Easy solution. Move the pipework. Even if the main stopcock is there you should be able to turn the water off outside and move it into the sink cabinet. If there is a 450 space you should be able to get a d/w in there. just depends how mch work the fitter wants to do. Id say ring a independant fitter who will be able to give you what you want while saving you 2 grand I would have thought. 5100 seems very expensive. Real wood doors?still overpriced0

Please please please get an opinion from someone who is NOT a diy store kitchen planner...ie a local kitchen shop/fitter.
DIY stores have a limited range of units, and they may just not have the brains to come up with a solution that works in your space. they will have you on that you* cant have a dishwasher* when this may be complete tripe.0 -
As others have said, you can put a DW under a drainer.
You can also get a 45cm, but they cost the same as a 60cm, so unless space is a REAL premium, go for the standard. Also, it you ever needed to replace it (they don't last forever) you will have less choice for a replacement.
You don't need a cupboard for a DW, only a SPACE under the worktop. At worst, if it is the last item on a run, you will need an end piece, but certainly not a carcase.
Ensure that the electric socket and water connections are easily accessible neaby, and not hidden away - this makes for easier service and maintenance.0 -
Haven't read the whole thread. I love my dishwasher - best thing I bought last year. We couldn't fit ours under the draining board.
The only thing I would say, is when you have worked out a space, imagine the door down for unloading and check you can unload to all cupboards. Because I am short and the dw is where it is, I find it difficult to unload straight into my cup cupboard!
(I could actually swap the dw and washing machine to solve the problem; just haven't got round to it).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
