BIL has said he will swap, but wanted a saxo and dont mind doing the repairs.

if this other guy got no comeback on this then i guess he'll have to go to court

So just to clarify your BIL wanted to sell a better, higher spec, more valuable Clio with no need for repairs and replace it with an inferior ned mobile saxo which needed loads of repairs.

    Simply ludicrous.

Take it to court at your own peril as a judge is going to think something is decidedly dodgy about the car or your BIL.
  • Got me thinking of swapping my 42" plasma for my neighbours 19" Lcd..........what you think....

    Sorry!!!

If you swap it back, the Clio will now have two additional keepers on record, the former of which had the car for a very short period of time.

If he's then planning to sell the Clio privately, he too will have only had it for a very short period of time.

That plus the Cat C is going to make that car look really really dodgy and nobody will go near it with a barge pole.
  • UPDATE:

BIL swapped back after numerous amounts of threatning phone calls and his m8's dad chaseing him in his taxi (with passengers).

they did it in a public area as i recomended and went with him (with both cars full of people:)

BIL went to the police when his m8's dad was harrassing him with the taxi but they said as no physical harm has been done there was nothing they could do and wouldnt get involved in civil matters! pff thought police were there to stop anti social behavior but evidently not.

here's why they wanted the saxo back.
BILs m8 bled the brakes as he thought the brake pedal was a bit spongy compared to the saxo, BIL's m8's mum put her foot on the brake and slid on ice and then considered the car dangerous as the pedal was hard and brakes locked insantly causing her to hit a curb.

i have now re-bled the brakes, there were significant amount of air in the system! so my diagnosis is BILS m8 is a silly !!!! and bled them wrong and he also filled the brake res to the brim of fluid way passed the max line.

the car also came back with some damage but minor, passenger side link track rod end bent, wishbone bent, suspension leg bent, chipped alloy wheel and slow punture to tyre, fag burn the the seat all now repaired.

the saxo went back with sawdust in the engine!

Again, the police don't understand the laws they are supposed to uphold and enforce - the father of your BIL's mate appears to be guilty of the offence of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act, 1997.

Sawdust can be used to a degree to hide underlying faults.

By putting it in the engine they may have increased the "thickness" of the oil and increased the pressure hence hiding some underlying wear/fault for a short whilst.

Its a trick often used to hide faults short term to sell a car.

The OP best just hope its never tracked back to them.

I'm sorry to hear of your BiL's troubles, but can we get one thing crystal clear?

    Your BiL's mate, is not a mate, he's a ****.

agree.anyways whilst sawdust was/is used to hide underlying faults its used at moderation as to not block oil returns some quantity went in that engine so give it a little time and he'll need expensive work done to it after a while.

my bro in law felt let down buy the police as they seemed to side with the harrassee's rather than the victim.

anyway it is all done with and my bro in law can move on now.
he has a child on the way and hope's to sell the clio soon when he has the new V5 i agree with most that itll be harder for him to sell it now it has more than previous keepers to its name. but the car is in good condition and would be a nice first time car for someone. thanks all.
