Market Traders and carboot sellers often appreciate used carrier bags tooAll I pay my psychiatrist is the cost of feed and hay, and he'll listen to me any day. ~Author Unknown0

I've got a great kitchen compost bin! It's a Tupperware multiserver rice cooker - a 8" square tupperware, with a snuggly fitting lid, but not an air tight one which would be annoying when you've got carrot peelings in one hand! It's a great reuse of something which I never used any way and it takes a day or two to fill so saves me walking to the bottom of the garden continually. Plus its easily washable to keep it hygienic and also doesn't look an eyesore on the worktop next to the sink. Hope that inspires more people to compost! Even just the tea bags would make a difference!

oh no and i was doing so well
ive been given a bag and i didnt need it

how many times should i reuse it to nullify its effect????
am a bit annoyed with myself because this is supposed to be the week i focus on carrier bags, the whole point of starting the thread - dough (as homer so clearly stated!)Ready to Go Go!0 -
I've been doing the bag for life thing for about a month now. I have one in my handbag which I have when needed and one in the car. I need to get another one for weekly shop.
We never did leave things on standby.
I'm on a reducing mission at the moment. one thing on ebay every few days.0 -
Yesterday I went to buy some shopping on the way home from work. As I was waiting at the checkout I thought, "Oh no! I haven't put any carrier bags in my bag yet." Luckily I then remembered that my husband had packed my lunch inside two carrier bags so I used them.0

oooh - im going shopping tomorrow, and i have an embarresingly large collection of carrier bags
i do send them for recycling, but it would be much better to reuse them
so that will be my mini-mission for tomorrow!
thanks OP :TI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

its sunday morning and day one of week two! Overall despite my little boots accident i think it was a success (more re-used incidents than not) and will continue with the good work.
However its now time to concentrate on something else to get in the habit and as its a heatwave this week (im off work how great!) and "darn sauf" you have a hosepipe ban the teeth cleaning water thing seems appropriate.
So guys concentrate on useing a glass of water or at least turning off the tap when you brush your teeth!!
As an addition my hot water runs lots of cold first so i am going to start to use this on the garden and water butts at tesco £18 so perhaps also time to invest.
Well done everyone for last week and lets hope the water saving goes well :TReady to Go Go!0 -

Sainsburys say that the packaging on their so organic range is compostable and that they are working hard to improve the other packaging ranges in store.
And why on EARTH can't they do that on ALL their products???:rolleyes::rolleyes:Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. My hot tap in the kitchen also takes a while to get warm. So I keep 4/5 large plastic beakers next to the sink and fill them until the water gets hot. I then use this water on my plants or pour into my water jug in the fridge0 -
