Someone may be able to dispel this old wives tale. but when I was young I was always told to run the cold tap for a while before using the water. I suspect this was due to most people haveing lead pipes so you would not be drinking contaminated water.
The other was never to drink the water from the hot tap, if it was coming from a storage tank.
Any truth in this still or can it be safely ignored? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I'm not sure about the cold water but the hot water would be to do with it being stored in a tank and getting yukky stuff in it. If you have a combi boiler this doesn't apply as the water is fresh from the mains.penrhyn wrote:Someone may be able to dispel this old wives tale. but when I was young I was always told to run the cold tap for a while before using the water.
