Anyone else having trouble with MSN lately?

id say post it.

msn 8 has the same problems, but the servers have been messed up a bit lately (couldnt sign onto hotmail this morning for an hour), most of my contact list had trouble signing in for the last 2-3 days

Based on the information I received, I understand that you cannot sign in to MSN Messenger. It responds very slowly and gives the error code 80040111. You have tried reinstalling the MSN Messenger but did not work. I realize that this is an inconvenience for you. Please know that I will try to resolve this problem in the quickest way possible.

This issue may occur when the XML library file that MSN Messenger uses, Msxml3.dll, is not correctly registered on the computer or it may be corrupted.

We need to simply register the Msxml3.dll file correctly on your computer. Please follow these steps in the order that they are listed.

1. Reregister msxml3.dll:

a. Click "Start," click "Run," type Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll, and then click "OK."
b. If the file can be located and is available, you receive the following message:

"DllRegisterServer succeeded in C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is succeeded."

- If this step is not successful, go to the next step.
- If this step succeeds, go to step 3.

2. Reinstall MSXML3:
a. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582&displaylang=en

b. Click the "msxml3.msi" link near the bottom of the page, and then follow the wizard to complete the installation.

3. Restart the computer, and then sign in to MSN Messenger again.

Checked my clock and date and both are fine. Haven't had anything called Windows Genuine Advantage validation pop up. We are behind a windows firewall I think. Had it for ages so don't think it would affect anything now. I also did a system restore for 2 weeks ago thinking it's maybe something I have installed recently has disagreed with MSN but it still wouldn't let me sign in so I'm thinking its more to do with MSN and not my pc.


Penelope, your reply.....was that for my problem or choccy's problem with MSN live?

You can use that for any version of Messenger after 6.0 also whats the error code/number.

So I can do what penelope said for any version after 6? To get the error code do I have to do the start /run thingy?

Yes do what Penny said, also when you try to sign in you will see an error code, (maybe) like the piccy below.

When I try to sign in all what happens is the two blue people spin round then stop, then it says (at the top of the MSN window) MSN Messenger not responding. It then closes the messenger window.

I don't have windows live, should penelopes info still work?
